EPB Enquiry

Hi guys.

Had problems when on holiday with the EPB jamming. Stuck on fast, wouldn't budge. Eventually resorted to pulling the cable and got underway again.

Now home, wondering what procedures I should follow to see if I can get it working again without having to have the box apart and re-latching it.

Any advice gratefully received.

Get the codes read first before you touch it!

You may be lucky as it can be something simple. Thumbs Up

There should be an additional two numbers at the end of the code. Check the large block terminal on the NSR chassis rail for chaffed or broken cables.

Managed to get it fixed today at my local repairer, Auto Safety Centre, Prescot.

They did it in just 40 minutes from start to finish, and charged me £20.

First one they had done, so I talked the mechanic through it.

They'd previously turned such jobs away, believing them to be too hard to do, but didn't realise it was so relatively straightforward.

Obvious questions here are 'when were the rear brakes last serviced' and 'what was the issue'?

It was entirely my fault on this occasion. I accidentally applied the brake whilst the car was running slightly downhill in reverse, at a very slow speed. For some reason the EPB cycled a couple of times and jammed. No other issues. Was unjammed and re-latched and nothing else required.

I had all new rear discs and pads and EPB shoes fitted about 30K ago, little sign of wear on them.
