Epb error

My epb has stopped working and throwing up error and out of use. Have replaced the drivers side shoes and will be doing the passenger side in the morning. It was the passenger side making the squawk before. It was showing the error when I started her up to close the window after doing the drivers side without even touching the epb switch.

Is it likely it will behave once the other side is replaced?

Also replaced rear pads. They were only replaced with discs in feb 17 before I got the car but they looked like they were all crumbling around the edges. Also fitted new pad sensor as was tie wrapped up to the brake hose and not attached to the pads! On the plus side there was copperslip on all the bolts.

Replaced the other side and still getting the epb error. Won't even let me put it into bedding mode but on a test drive it let me pull it up and stopped the car a couple of times then stopped again. Any ideas?

Strange. If it's still working then it can't be jammed. Have you read Bodsy's brake bible for how to adjust and bed in etc?

Maybe have a read to double check you've not missed something? It's a really good guide. My epb squealed the other week so I panicked and stopped using it until I replaced disks, pads and shoes a few days ago following his guide.

Doing the bedding in procedure was a bit of a pain owing to having to let it all cool down before doing the next stop on the epb. Got some strange looks doing laps at 20mph.

Hopefully someone will be along to help soon.

I printed the whole bible and had it with me in plastic sleeves to stop it getting dirty. Thumbs Up

I printed it, but wasn't smart enough to cover it and ended up chasing it down the driveway when the wind blew before i managed to trap it under a large socket. Laughing

I put it in a ring binder. Far too organised.

Also fitted my new front discs and Brembo 4 pot calipers. Just got to bed everything in now.

If it helps the epb is stuck off rather than on.

Anyone have any ideas of where to start with this?

Don't know if linked but when it is screaming epb error with red and orange warning lights showing the parking sensors will not work or even switch on. No flashing light on the button or beeps of any kind.

Anyone got any thoughts on where to start with this?

Have tried another switch so ruling that out. Had a quick look and can't see any broken wires anywhere.

Just odd that when I try using it and it beeps and errors the parking sensors will not work at all until the error disappears from the dash.

Have you tried resetting the ecu? It may have chucked up a error code that needs to be deleted

Is there an easy way to do that? I don't have an IID.

I'm guessing a hard reset may not be the answer?

Hard reset made no difference. Removing the pink fuse under bonnet just leaves the yellow light on all the time. Removing fuse 41 makes no difference and I still have red light flashing. Yellow light stayed lit with fuse 41 pulled.

Had the car scaned today thanks to the legend that is Lynalldiscovery. Gorgeous Metropolis btw. It is only showing an overtemp error but we could not get it to do anything with the Iid. Tried the latching option and it just errored on the dash. We both sort of came to the conclusion it could be a wiring error somewhere. It seems from what we could guess that parts are not talking to each other.

Will be starting with the loom connector under the rear n/s arch and go from there.

The Iid seemed very limited as to what we could do with the epb so this also lead us to be pointing towards wiring.
