EPB serviced but!

Hi all

Mikeys EPB video worked for me right up to the last stage.

Serviced my EPB after a manual brake release. Shoes were all serviced, cables all ok, and the epb re-latched.

Now when I operate the hand brake switch the EPB motor spins the brass rod but it dosnt all pull tight and engage. Followed the correct adjustment process but It dosnt want to work?

Any ideas why the rod and motor are spinning but it’s not pulling the cables together to engage?

No and no I’m afraid. Checked both cables on brake shoe lever, twice. Also, manual release has been reset and reconnected as seen.

Found my mistake. The square nut on the inner end of the thread of the LH cable was stuck in the plastic housing of the module. Now it's looking good,
Thank you Disco Mikey for excellent guide, and also everyone else who contributes!

Discoswede also experienced this issue, but I can’t discern what is meant by his written solution.

On right side in the movie, the left cable goes into the module. If the brassrod keep spinning, it must be the left cable not engaged the threads into the brassrod.the square plate discomike is referring to is a part of the threaded part on the left cable.
You can see it on this picture.

Thank you for you replies.

This square piece we are referring too.... what of it? if im correct to assume, the left hand cable is not designed to spin? it stays stationary and the brass rod winds down does it not? if what im suggesting is correct, then what influence does this square nut have over the operation? are we suggesting its jamming the cable somehow?

It keeps the left cable from spinning. I think you have to get the threads back in manually. If I remember correct the cable is supposed to be winded 8 threads in when reinstalling it.

All sorted, it was as our kind Scandinavian members pointed out.

The left hand cable goes through a square hole in the passenger side of the rectangular module. The handbrake cable has a square nut looking thing on the end. its not actually a nut (and it dosnt spin up and down the thread). All this it is, is a guide for the cable so that as it pulls into the channel, it isn't flapping around.

On closer inspection, mine had got gimped at and angle in the entrance, and as a result, it was stopping the brass rod catching the first couple of threads. it was just aimlessly spinning but not engaging. bit of gentle persuasion tonight has gone and got it sorted.

Thanks all. Thumbs Up
