EPB and suspension faults

I suspect that I have a faulty compressor among other things. It started this weekend when I was about to drive home after a meet with the regional RL chapter (no offroad).

It all started when the EPB refused to disengage using the EPB-switch (manual MY2005) and the car also went up in “extended” mode and bonging every time I used the EPB-switch. I found this very odd as I was parked on a flat parking lot.

I feared that I had to go the manual wire route but luckily I had my IIDTool with me and used the command to unjam EBP through the tool, success after a few tries. The problem however reoccurred as soon as I turned off the engine and the EPB engaged. So I bypassed it by flashing the EBP to only engage manually and to auto disengage when driving off. I managed to drive home with no further issues thinking I might only have to buy a new EPB switch.

Next day however when I’m driving off to work I get “Suspension fault” and the amber light / Special Programs off…. I turn off the engine and lights go off but then I get the same fault and a 40km/h drive to work.

The IIDTool showed the following faults at the time:

Model: L319 - Discovery 3 2005
Vehicle scanned on 9 feb 2015 19:16:28
IIDTool BT V3.0 B1262

Audio System
• B1D21-13 (2F) Remote control switch - General electrical failure - circuit open

Auxilary Heater
• B1D25-15 (2E) Dosing pump circuit - General electrical failure - circuit short to battery or open
Engine TDV6
• P140D-00 (68 ) Exhaust gas recirculation control circuit B range/performanc
• P140D-00 (68 ) Exhaust gas recirculation control circuit B range/performanc

Parking Brake
• U2002-01 (B8 ) Switch general electrical failure - General failure information - general electrical failure
Suspension

• C1A13-64 (2E) Pressure does not decrease when venting gallery - Algorithm based failure - signal plausibility failure

I cleared the faults and checked the 60A fuse which looked intact and after a few tries I managed to get the compressor running when parked in idle at work. But when I started driving back home the “Suspension Fault” returned after just a few meters. The EBP faults only come up when I touch the actual switch.

At this time the fault codes that I get are the following:

Model: L319 - Discovery 3 2005
Vehicle scanned on 9 feb 2015 19:16:28
IIDTool BT V3.0 B1262

Audio System
• B1D21-13 (2F) Remote control switch - General electrical failure - circuit open

Auxilary Heater
• B1D25-15 (2E) Dosing pump circuit - General electrical failure - circuit short to battery or open

Engine TDV6
• P140D-00 (68 ) Exhaust gas recirculation control circuit B range/performanc
• P140D-00 (68 ) Exhaust gas recirculation control circuit B range/performanc

Parking Brake
• U2002-01 (B8 ) Switch general electrical failure - General failure information - general electrical failure
Suspension

• C1A13-64 (2E) Pressure does not decrease when venting gallery - Algorithm based failure - signal plausibility failure

Does anyone know how my initial EPB issues correlate to the suspension problems and am I correct assuming that buying a new EPB switch will fix the EPB issue, as it seems that the actual EPB works, just not through the switch?

And does it seem that I also have a real issue with the compressor for the suspension, EPB fault aside? Never had any issues before the trouble with the EPB not disengaging though.

I know that the information probably is to be found in one of the (many) different suspension threads, but didn't see anyone that clearly started like my problem did.

Tankful for any input

/Dar

How does the value for the exhaust valve appear?

When venting the gallery, does the IID show an appropriate drop in pressure?

Have a look for damaged wires in the front left wheel arch. Thumbs Up

Not sure what numbers that I should be looking for, I saw a slow decrease in the "galley" pressure today when driving to work when I tried to raise the car to get the compressor working. Fault warning then a rise to 500+ something in pressure then slowly dropping a few units every other second.

Not sure if it's possible to do both at the same time, but are you able to deflate the gallery and watch the pressure reading as it decreases?

The wiring to the exhaust valve and pressure sensor is a good place to start. Thumbs Up

Cheers, think theres an option to deflate using I/O not sure one can read values at the same time though. Will have to check the wires, though I'm far from a mechanic...

Appreciate the help!

I get the same audio code and EPB code. The EPB on mine works fine using the switch and the the auto apply, releasing function.

Today when I started the car the suspension went up a few cm, after being parked for approx 10h. Reservoir valve was at 100% during this operation.

I then put the car in offroad-mode to get the compressor going= compressor started just fine.

I then went back to normal mode and exhaust valve read 100% and the car lowered and the compressor kept working.

Galley pressure topped out just below 1800kpa and then gradually decreased during my drive back home (10min drive) down to 124kpa.

I do however still get the • C1A13-64 (2E) Pressure does not decrease when venting gallery - Algorithm based failure - signal plausibility failure with the following suspension fault special programs off every now and then.

Sometimes I get the fault just driving off, sometimes it comes after a few miles.

The values that I'm getting, do they seem to be in the normal range for a working compressor and does the other valves operate as they are supposed to in a scenario as above?

I'm getting the same failure (C1A13) still in the same conditions (sometimes immediately, sometimes after a few minutes) AFTER having replaced the compressor with the later AMK one, new reservoir and software flash... Any advice?

I have the same alarm code on my -05 TDV6. Also some times when lowering, it sort of jams the suspension in offroad mode. Any advice?? Is the dryer a problem??
