EPB Unjam programme

Hi all.

I recently had a problem with my EPB jamming on. I used the emergency cable release which disabled the EPB and I managed to drive the car.

I took it to my local independent and they informed me that the parking brake shoes had disintegrated and that the EPB unit had jammed - they advised I needed a new EPB unit and shoes at around £1000 all in. Obviously not keen.

I took the car away and used the IID tool EPB Unjam programme. This worked successfully. The IID is now showing the EPB unit in 'Latching' position in the Control I/O menu.

Can I now just go ahead and fit new parking brake shoes and set them up as usual. I have read Disco Mikey's thread on opening up the EPB unit to unjam and relatch manaully - I'll do this if I have to but would prefer it if this is not necessary.

Many thanks.

I'd fit the new shoes and adjust properly. Then try it. If it's unjammed it should work.

Ok thanks, may as well.

I just wondered if I should put it in the 'mounting' position before setting up the epb.
