Well a D3 that was designed to be unable to tow in -6 degrees without faultcode would be unsellable in Sweden... Most car manufacturers do extended winter testing in north of Sweden in temperatures around -25 to -30, even though it seems like the Solihull engineers left well before some colleagues from other makes I don't think even they would have missed such a problem
I don't think the engine mapping would be different between various countries in Europe depending on their respective average temp? That is what temperature sensors and advanced engine management systems are developed to do, adapting the engine to handle different environment variables without the need of expensive market adaptations.
My guess is that there is a fault somewhere in DD's D3, not a designflaw... But of course a remap actually moves you away from what has been designed and tested to work by Land Rover (yes i know, but anyway...), so that is a factor to consider.
