Europa, Austria Summer 2020

Hi fellow LR lovers.

The snow is falling and the winter is here, but we're in planning mood for summer holiday 2020.
We consist of me, my wife and our 3 boys (5,2,1 years).

We live in Norway and heading for Austria with our LR4 full of camping kit and adventurousness.
Duration, around 4 weeks. 1 week down, 2 weeks around and 1 week home.

So far the plan is Aalesund-Oslo, take the ferry to Copenhagen then use 2 days through east Germany ending up around Salzburg or east Austria.
There we will set basecamp at a central place and take day trips, then work our way west before we head back home to Norway.

Anyone been in Austria and have tips for camping places with activities for small children.
Bathing, nice playgrounds etc.

Special hidden places to visit and obvious things to see and do?
Whole Austria is in interest.

Driven through Austria a couple of times, worth remembering to buy a vignette. Most cafes, fuel stations sell them before you get to the border. You can buy them to cover different periods of time, so you don't need to buy the annual vignette.

We have visited Bregenz in the West nice town on the lake. We also travelled through on the way to Corvara in northern Italy. Its about 2 hrs 45 mins south of Innsbruck. If you are considering dropping into northern Italy, Corvara and that area are great for walking in the summer.

Only been climbing/mountaineering in Austria but it’s worth noting that they have an extensive hut network both above and below the snow line. Lots of walkers can visit the lower ones (often with kids in tow) to stay a night and travel hut to hut, or even just walk up to one for lunch (many have very good restaurants believe it or not). Check out the OEV and DAV for hut listings
