| Exchanging tyres front to back |

I was going to swap my front and back wheels round as the front tyres, due to some previous poor alignment, have worn much more than the rears. By doing so all 4 should be ready to be replaced at the same time.
However, the handbook specifically states not to do this.
Anyone know why?

Don't know to be honest - I've always thought it was a good idea and will be swapping mine around soon (always better to diagonally swap tyres on a 4WD rather than simply swapping front to back).
I remember that people used to say that you should not swap wheels over from left to right to prevent the wear being uneven with respect to direction of rotation but I would have thought it would help even things out.
EDIT: Obviously you can't swap them diagonally if you have unidirectional tyres - maybe this is the reason why LR say it to prevent people making mistakes?? 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Auto Buckingham Blue

I've done it in the past with no issues.
As long as the wear rate is the same for each tyre on the axle [and overall wheel diameters are roughly the same as is on the other axle] I don't see how there can be a problem. I was a normal heterosexual chap, but in these new woke awakenings I now identify as a Wardrobe.

Thanks guys - I couldn't see any issues.
I do have directional tyres (Vredestein Wintrac 4 Extremes) so I was going to swap one side front to back and same for the other side.
It get's a bit complicated with the jack and axle stands swaping one corner to a diagonally opposite!
I'd prefer to change all 4 tyres at once so seems like a good thing to do.
I have always done it with front wheel drive cars - how many of them are there out there that have been through 3 sets of front tyres and the rear ones are only half worn, even though they are 6+ years old and the side walls are cracking

The service spec reads as follows
13. Refit road wheels to opposite sides of the same axle ( Use anti-sieze
compound on spigot bore ) Not vehicles fitted with uni-directional tyres
