2 nuts can, 3rd from wheel arch.
Check the diameter of the new pipe with calipers before you remove the old pipe to ensure it will fit, it has been known for them to differ It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

I was going to do mine from underneath but one look at them rusty nuts dampened my lack of enthusiasm even more, Iirc I did read a how to from disocmikey and one nut has to be got at from the wheel arch but not 100 percent on that and again Iirc the nuts are M10 15mm spanner size.
You might just be the kick start I need to do mine!

Had a look today and started spraying plus gas nuts look to be in pretty good condition
From what I can see it looks like
1 support gearbox/ transfer box ( removed gearbox undertray to have a look )
2 remove gearbox cross member looks like 5 nuts and bolts
3 loosen down pipe / middle section exhaust clamp
4 loosen the 3 downpipe nuts ( looks tight be do-able using extension bar and universal joint )
5 remove and refit downpipe
Sounds easy
Getting the pipe from lr trade they reckon straight forward replacement
Will post some photos when it's done
Cheers Henda

Got all 3 off in about 90 minutes from underneath using this collection of extensions. Only one bolt needed impact wrench, other 2 were fine with breaker bar.

Sods law now of course, I now can't get the cross member off, separate the pipe from the turtle muffler, or have tools to cut the old pipe in half, so a noisy trip off to the exhaust shop to finish the 'easy' part of the job.

Exhaust shop was booked out for a week, so ended up cutting in half with hacksaw after getting part way through with a grinder. Here's where there's space to cut - just behind the cat. It enables it to drop straight out. Job all done now. Might save someone some trial and error...

Just wondering what you guys think. I was thinking about cutting the top section of the cat off and digging out whatever is in there. And reweld after. Would this be the same as a proper cat bypass pipe. 2 reasons why I want to do this. 1). It will be less obvious for MOTday . and 2). it's an odd size pipe I don't have to fill the gap.

Hi all,
I have exactly the same issue with the braided section on mine only i think the nuts are even worse than shown on this thread! Not attempting this myself, as they reckon a body off job.. but have agreed with my indy to supply the decat pipe..
Can anyone help with clarifying the part no? I have found one that fits a RRS which i have a feeling should be identical but the company have told me 'we do not offer this item for you model of car' really helpful thanks ;
I believe the correct part number for the cat pipe should be either DA4396 or WCD500433. From looking at this i am pretty sure that the part no's are the same for D3 and RRS?
preparred to take the plunge myself...but would love if anyone can anyone give me a steer...mine is a 2005 D3 HSE TDV6? Thanks!
