cbboard - i'm loving the look of your D3!

It really looks fantastic. I have a Silver HSE as well and i think i'll be following what you've done with yours.

The "forever black" looks great. I'll have to see if i can get some of it over here. Actually i'm over in the states next week and maybe i'll pick some up whilst i'm there.

Hi cbboard,

A further question about your car... it looks as if you have two shades of window tints on it? Can you confirm?

My D3 is silver and I'm about to have tinting done, looking into colors now. (I'm tempted towards limo black on the cargo area and 20% on the rear passenger doors.)

regards,

Wiljo

Usual thing Forever Black is $9 in the USA and £14 in the UK.

Rip-off Britain Evil or Very Mad

Going to try and get it from Amazon.com instead of the UK site.

I think you will find that Amazon US blocks the UK from ordering. Unless it comes from an external shop, in which case you should be ok.

yeah, i do have two shades. texas has limits on how dark the 2 front windows can be, so it is the max legal tint. the front windows have to have a light transmittance of 25%. rear windows can be as dark as you want. all of my rear windows are actually factory tint with the front windows tinted as close as i could get them to the rear. i think the cargo window on that pic looks darker because of the direction of the sun.

I too went this route. Came up with a really slick way to cap off the rear tubes on the rack as well.

Cap method:
1. Remove the rear cpas carefully and save them.
2. Taking the larger of the two pieces, cut a template of the extrusion profile.
3. Using the lower section of the larger cap, cut the top off and shape the side to fit.
4. Using thin gauge aluminium stock, create an angle bracket
5. Rivet in place with aluminium pop rivets.
6. Silicone the edges

Done.

Here are some photos.
