Anyone wanting to floor their rack - Hold Off for now,

Thanks to a pm I'm now talking to a guy who seems very reasonable.
[around half the price of others i've checked].
Going to visit his workshop [at his invitation] to show him the rack and see exactly what he will do for the price.
Will also check what other fabrication he can do;
i.e. I need lamp brackets welded to my rack.

Will post my findings when done.

Idea
Just had an idea.
As opposed to tread plate, I'm now thinking on using camping Easy Lock tiles.
http://www.tamworthcamping.co.uk/tamworth_...id/6793322
My rack has already got a full heavy duty grid base.
The benefits I can see are:
1] I can cut to an exact fit [especially around my kayak carrier system].
2] They're already black - so no powder coating costs.
3] They should be lighter than tread plate.
4] Items can be secured through the holes in the tiles.
[addittional holes could be easily cut if required]
5] I can secure floor down with plastic tie downs
[easier to remove tiles when removing rack]
6] The tiles are weather durable
7] It's far cheaper.

So what you reckon Question

what have I missed Neutral

[kevin - I've pm'd you on this]

Looks Good!

However, 50cm x 50cm X ?

How thick are they?, what does each tile weigh?

May also reqiure plenty of tie wraps to stop em flappin around!

Thumbs Up

Going back to richard and the 3mm checkerplate, he can cut it to size, perfect fit around body of the rack, cut into two strips for eas of installing / removal. Quoted me £80.00

Keep us informed Thumbs Up

Here you go, not on an expo rack, but I was looking at it for mine. You can pretty much cut it how ever needed FWIU.

Marine stuff! This specifically, although I'm sure other types are out there that would do just as well. http://www.kingstarboard.com/Products/starboardXL.aspx
