Extended warranty - L/R worthwhile
Hi, my 08 D3 (58k miles) manufacturers warranty expires at end of this month. Local dealer has quoted £780 for 1 year extended warranty - are these negotiable? I thought i saw someone on here get a delaer warranty for £625 (can't find the post now though). Quote doesn't include L/R assist, but I've got full recovery package bundled in with my insurance.
Is the dealer extended warranty worthwhile, or would I be better going to Warranty Direct who seem to get generally good reports on here.
I'm of the view (probably wrongly!) that with a dealer extended warrany, if anything does go wrong then I should be in a stronger negotating postion when going back to a L/R dealer, to make a claim against a L/R extended warranty that was sold by them (even if its actually provided by Car Care PLan)

Oh, 1 other question, to get extended warranty, do I have to have all paperwork for servicing, or is stamped up service book (not all done by L/R) sufficient?
From what I can remember when L/R sent out the warranty quote for mine it came as £725 with L/R assist and £600+ without non negotiable,
I went with W/D after reading various posts on here for a couple of reasons
1. They were cheaper ( do the online quote then wait couple days and they will ring back with a better offer plus haggle for monthly payments, no betterment, aircon etc)
2. Was told on here that W/D covers more parts than L/R but double check that yourself.
Re the service book I am not too sure so will not comment but I am sure if you give it a day or so the experts on here will help you out.
One last thing what warranty did L/R offer was it the select or the approved as there is a difference in what is and is not covered.

WD are very good. Real the small print so you understand what you're buying. Do a good search on here for things to include.
WD covered items in year 6 that LR extended wouldn't cover because of wear and tear in year 4!2020 SDV6 D5 HSE, Carpathian Grey +
2022 Tesla Model Y LR... almost Carpathian Grey

The LR price can be changed as like anything else it is a 'sale' and has a 'profit' for the dealer.
The WD policy includes wear and tear - the LR policy doesn't as far as I know.
As the vehicle gets older the probability is that parts fail due to wear and tear.
Read into that what you will.

Its up to the individual to decide if they want to purchase an insurance policy or take the risk but my personal experience with a car such as the D3 is get a good policy.
Last policy I claimed between £3k-£4k and the current WD policy cost me £539 6 weeks ago and I've already claimed £330 for track rod ends and bushes.SOLD - 23my Range Rover Sport D300 Dynamic SE

Just got a quote for £783.50, is that good?
Also my aircon is not working and I've been to a garage who put the green stuff in, but I've not been back for the investigation yet, would W/D cover my potentially expensive aircon failure?

They'll phone you back with "this month's special offer", mention this site and you'll get a discount, then ask for Extra Cover, airbags & emissions, no betterment, 13 months for 12, dealer rates and try & haggle no excess. You should get that for £550 - £600. It's a weird way of working but you can easily get the price down & content up. Also the cover wear & tear immediately if you come from a warranty, otherwise 90 days wait. Now on my 2nd year and been very happy, they've paid up all the claims. You have to get the claim preauthorised so you know where you are before the garage starts.

thanks for all the replies folks. Looks like I'll be going for Warranty Direct.
On the warranty note. , I have 2 weeks of the manufactures warr left , there is nothing wrong
What to check For just in case , and Bluetooth , won't work , warr ? When I pull green button , says no phone connected , it did work a few months ago can I claim . 2008 ,hse, it does what it says .

warranty direct have been rubbish for me
hi all as a newbie i thought id have a look at the faults you are getting on the lrd3.i havent purchest 1 yet but feeling drawn to a 05 hse at the moment im driving a touareg and thats been nothing but trouble.i had a warrant with wd tried to claim for air con compressor coupling which in its self was only £105 but a days labour was required so it was £840 in total wd said because it bolted on and off the compresspr they wouldnt pay for it.the second time i tried to claim was when it went into limp mode again they wouldnt pay because the part that went was again bolted to the turbo,the third time i tried to claim was when the engine started to makea really bad knocking noise vw said you need a new engine block due to the wrong grade oil was used, guess what they wouldnt pay for that saying that some one has put the wrong oil in so its not covered id only had the car 8months and it wasnt due for service until another 10months because it was on a longlife service interval and i couldnt prove that the old owner had put it in.so as far as my experience with wd has been s**t the moto of this is by the time you need your warranty thats the time you find out how good they really are,in my case i found out the hard way cheers daz

My LR warranty runs out soon. Car is 3 years old at end of month. Only 15000 miles on the clock. Not yet got a price from L/R but CSMA have quoted £400-/+ and Warranty Direct have quoted £800-/+. I used CSMA several years ago and I was happy. Does anyone have any views. There is a big difference in the price and I suspect L/R will come up arounf the £800 mark.
