External temperature reading

I know this topic has come up before in threads about the cold interior in D4s, but I’ve not seen anyone say if there’s a fix to this specific issue:

On the dash the external temperature reading is too high and therefore affects the climate control system wizardry.

This morning we had near freezing fog. BBC weather app and my Alexa tell me it’s 3 degrees when setting off. My car is telling me it’s 10 degrees.

So, is this a fault with the actual external thermometer probe that is sending the reading?

Has anyone replaced that sensor and where is it on the D4? (I know from previous Land Rovers it’s normally behind the front grille, on some of my L322 RRs it was attached to the back of the grill.

The sensor was the first thing which was changed on mine back in 2016, but it didn't fix the problem.

The fix was the software update which is mentioned somehwere in here:-

the problem. At least in mine, it's not so much that it works poorly, but rather that it is very slow to update, so much so that many times I arrive at my destination if the journey is not very long, with the engine cold and the ambient temperature below 5 degrees. and he is still around the 12 that were in the parking lot...and he can't even turn on the FBH...he needs much more time and It has never been possible to solve...

The external temperature display (ambient temperature display) problem related to some 2016 Discovery 4 models. The display in the car was always showing outside temperature to be around 3 to 7 degrees higher than the true outside temperature.

This was fixed with a software update.

Having read through a REALLY long thread of 42 pages on this one, I can see that people have been able to flash their ECU via the IID Tool, so I've contacted GAP to ask if I can do this.

Had the ECU flash from GAP.

Applied it.

No change sadly
