External Thermometer Error?

This has happened to me three times now:

I drive in to work at 0600 and when I turn the vehicle off external temperature reads 59 degrees F, about right.
When I get back in the car at 1600, it's 95 degrees outside but the display still reads 59 F.
In the 15 minutes it takes for me to get home the display climbs to 75 in several 2 degree increments, but never reaches the correct external ambient temperature. (Maybe if I drove for a longer time the temperature would climb to the correct ambient.)

Has anyone had a similar experience? Is this a known issue and what's the fix?

Thanks in advance.

Probably due to the logic in the system - it in all likelihood sees the higher temperature, but assumes that it was due to 'heat soak' from the radiator, and therefore displays the 'last known good temperature' ie 59 deg.

Is your Disco still warm when you come back to it, or has it the temperature cooled back???

Thanks Spooky - next morning it reads ambient, in other words it's cooled down.

I took it for a drive last night and the final wrong reading continued to climb until it reached the correct ambient - you're probably right in that it's a function of computer logic.
