Extra plug on replacement FBH burner unit

Can anyone advise on what to do with the extra black plug on a replacement burner assembly, Part number LR010329? The original FBH burner (2006 D3) only had a white plug. The new burner assembly has a white and black plug.

It seems there are two possible options:

1. There is a blanked off socket on the FBH which it looks like the extra black plug could fit into.

2. It also looks like it is possible to reassemble the FBH with the black plug left unconnected under the FBH unit cap.

I presume that Option 2 is the usual solution?

Thanks Martin, but now wondering if the FBH fitted is a D3 original

What I thought I had an original D3 FBH and a genuine new replacement D3 burner unit, but which had two plugs not one (supplied by Advanced Factors). Advanced Factors have confirmed that the part is correct for my VIN (LR010329).

This is the label from the fitted FBH. Anyone know if this a genuine D3 burner?

Thanks but it looks like his ex-Ford one is different. That is rated at 44W whereas mine is 42W. The thread in Martin's post suggests this is due to a pre-heater, which mine does not have.

In Robbie's FBH service guide the burner unit there only has one plug.

A few photos and more information. I was replacing the burner unit following failure of the FBH to ignite (initialising but not firing). Diagnosis using the Webasto software, FBH loom from the forum shop and a USB to OBD2 adapter resulted in a report of a 99H error ("Glow plug / electronic ignition unit interruption. Check the electrical system of pin filament)"

Still trying to understand what people to do about the extra black plug? Looks like it can be just left unconnected under the black cap. Might try this and see what happens.

2005 Discovery 3 TDV6 S Manual Java Black

The black plug is for nozzle pre heat on certain applications as some have highlighted. That feature isn’t enabled on the LR heater so you can either plug it in where the blank was (it should not see it or operate it) or leave it unplugged.

Just to update, for completeness. Fitted the new burner assembly with just the white plug connected. Left the black one disconnected (it fitted into a small shaped space in the black cap).

Dialled up the GSM module and the FBH eventually fired up with an impressive smoke screen and vigorous roar. The FBH has fired up a few times since and all is well.

Looks like the fitted FBH was the D3 original. It is a shame I could not source just a replacement glowplug. The removed burner was vey clean (carb cleaner and a rag is all it needed) given over 7300 operating hours. I have added 2SO in the diesel for the last 4 years (~30k miles) and also use Millers Diesel Power Ecomax regularly, so this may have helped de-coke the burner/keep it clean.

Copy of the Webasto Thermo Test diagnostic report when the original fault was diagnosed is below.
