What extras to take an SE spec to HSE
Hi All
First of all great site for info and advice - so thank you all
As some of you know we have recently purchased a very nice 05 SE - low mileage and a very good warranty through our local Dealers. Hubby is dleighted but you know us women never completely satisfied
So what "extras" would we need to add to change our spec to HSE - this is more for fun than probability considering the expense but you never know!!!
The list I have is:
TV
Rear VIDEO Inputs in addition to the AUX
4X4 Info centre (Wiggs is on the case)
Voice recognition
Bluetooth
Privacy glass
What others are there???
So questions are how much do you think it would cost to add these - some solutions are simple such as Wiggs and a Parrot but what about TV/DVD on the screen and the rear Video input and voice recognition - is it just a case of connecting up a mic to the rear of the existing kit or is it a different head unit.
As for privacy glass - I'm guessing a can of black gloss paint should do the job - do you think hubby would object
TQ

I had my D3 tinted by Midland Tinting. Ben was very good, quick and a decent price. There was a group buy ages ago. Worth a look there to see the feedback.
TV sounds very expensive. Again there a re a few threadfs but unless you are a techy type person it will cost you a lot.
If you don't have BT then would an aftermarket kit not be a bettter/cheaper option?HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE

Hi, welcome to the 'best' forum ever 8)
I think you'd need 19" wheels, a chrome 'H' for the boot, voice activation, (not really that good, unless you have a Birmingham accent ) and 4x4 info screen (think you already got that in hand
The panoramic roof (mega expensive to retro fit), centre consol fridge (actually really good) and a few other goodies.
The privacy glass was not 'standard fit' btw Never get mad - get even !!

Thanks Steve - oooh a fridge - can you retro fit those?
We already have the heated rear seats - much to the monster sons delight - he keeps muttering about warm buttocks!! - were they not a standard fit - it all gets very confusing as to what is and isn't standard

I was told on my SE that the option added to standard included both heated rear seat and Fridge (they came as a package I thought).
Like you say, you dont seem to get two cars the same, even if they have an SE sticker on the backD4 HSE - Aintree Green

Should be easy, as it is a direct fit in the centre cubby space, and only requires a 12V supply (it has no connections to any other complicated D3 'systems' )
You'll find out about all of those as time goes on, the D3 is a SUPERB vehicle, incredibly capable, incredible complicated - you will devlop a 'love-hate' relationship soon (if you haven't already )
Have fun
p.s it might actually be less expensive to trade it in for a HSE and then look smug everytime to see a SE on the road Never get mad - get even !!

No - it does get very confusing
Thanks Steve - not sure hubby would be too chuffed if I suggested he trade it in after only 2 days of use - it only arrived with us on Saturday
Will have a look at the fridge - seems a simple upgrade.
Love - hate - lol I'm bracing myself in expectation
Thanks all

J, don't worry, I drive 'Mrs N' insane with my obsession of my D3, it's in having a auto box oil flush today, and her first comment was "why does it need that" - oh well, more expensive meals and nights out to fund
So, you haven't played off road yet you must, MUST do it, you'll be amazed at the cars capability, but if you've not done before try one of the many events listed in here, they are very well organised, and you will be looked after so you don't end up with any dings and dents Never get mad - get even !!

Your poor wife - she has my sympathy
I've never tried off road in a D3 but have in lots of others, mainly though work and now via the Estate hubby helps look after. I worked as a Ranger for about 15 years so lots and lots of fun off road - South Downs, the Weald, Brecon Beacons and Pembrokeshire - had plenty of interesting moments such as when I dropped a Series 3 down two parallel slit trenches on Chailey Common - the poor old girl came to a sudden halt with her chassis flat on the ground and all four wheels spinning in thin air
Anyway enough waffle - I'm much more grown up now and never behave in a child like manner with large grin whilst driving off road - or indeed do I actively search for large muddy spots that are likely to cover hubby in yuk as he likes to drive with his arm hanging out the window (yes he's still got a Defender )......... well if he won't wind it up!!!!

Your poor husband. He has my sympathy.
Don't you know that real men can't fit their right arm inside a Defender.
Look After Him. He's the only one you've got,

Lol - thanks Peter - I'll let him know he's joined the "real man's" world when he next moans about Landrover elbow
Absolutely - he can drive me potty but I wouldn't want a different hubby
