Fault Code P0046
A turbo solenoid fault = New tubo assy
Not good at 27k.
The upside of it is the fuel consumption seems to have improved by a good 10%

p 00-46 hardly be a turbo replacement indication
its an air flow meter faulty
replace the air flow sensor first
dont even think about replacing the turbo

Sounds like an actuator stuck, so by changing the whole unit they managed to fix the problem.

Pretty sure that was one of the codes the garage read from SWMBO's car when the turbo died, but I may be wrong! Is it under warranty?? If so hopefully they'll change it anyway for a nice shiney new one. Then you'll have joined CFT!

You r perfectrly right DSL but the fault have to be logged together with P0132-B, P0299 or P0234
p00=46 alone would b air floe unit messed up

The printout reads:-
Description:
Turbo/supercharger boost control solenoid - circuit range/performance
General failure information - no sub type information
P0046
SAE Description:
Turbo/supercharger boost control solenoid - circuit range/performance
Supplementary description:
Diagnosis mass airflow 0 - greater than maximum or less than minimum.
I'm afraid it was a turbo assy replacement! The solenoid is not available as a replacement. Fortunately I have a warranty as it a bit of pricey do! Now I have a shiney new turbo assy - Not that you can see it tho'.
It looks like a real animal to change and not something I would have expected at such a low mileage.
Pehaps I should have driven the car like I had stolen it - just once in a while!

They changed the complete turbo assy an its fixed! The whole assy was changed as I'm told individual parts are not available for replacement. However if parts were available, I think it would be un-economical to remove and re fit the assy in the hope the repair cured the the problem - You might just get lucky - but on the othe hand?
