Fault codes/locking rear differential/display |
|
My first post here. I have a 2005 LR3 (Disco 3) V8 Heavy Duty without nav screen. Recently, in rock crawl mode, multiple fault codes displayed (see later) and then the suspension lowered to road driving height. This has also occurred in other modes when off road on very rugged terrain. I did not enclunter this problem last year under similar circumstances.
Truck is in the shop now and the computer diagnostics indicate that the locking diff rear solenoid is defective. Two replacement solenoids later, still no fix.
My question to the tech heads: on my dashboard display (remember: no nav screen), I have seen front diff locked indication as represented by the pair of "steering front wheels". However, I have never seen the rear wheels on the dash indicator. Neither have I seen the yellow icon with all four locked. I do not have the nav screen. Should the dash display these when all four are locked? Should an icon light up?
Any ideas as to the source of the failure? I do not recall the fault codes except HDC.
Many thanks.

The icons you see when in low-range and an off-road TR mode is simply showing you the steering angle (i.e. where you wheels are pointing)....it's nothing to do with the differentials
And the D3/LR3 doesn't (and can't) have a front diff lock - just centre and in your case rear e-diff 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Auto Buckingham Blue

Perhaps it's this issue? There was a software upgrade for the rear diff ecu in feb 09.
