Faultmate - Worth the extra over IIDTool?
I'm in the market for a diagnostic tool for a D4.
IIDTool and Faultmate seem to be the two "premium" units around, but is the extra cost of the Faultmate worth it?
Put another way, what is the Faultamte able to do for the extra money that the IIDTool can't?

I was under the impression that the faultmate was now obsolete and not sufficiently up to date to be used on a D4. I thought the BBS offering was now the Nanocom Evolution.MY2022 D5 HSE D300 - with extra nice bits added

I'd discounted the Nanocom as it had a very bad press when it was first released. Wasn't aware that BBS bought it, does now look like it's a decent system.
Thanks for the tip, will consider it!

I had a Faultmate. I then bought an IID
The Faultmate was sold after sitting in a drawer for over a year...
The IID is much easier to navigate and use, and the backup and support from GAP makes it worth every single penny My D3 Build Thread

I understood the Nanocom was BBS designed and manufactured. It did have early bad press for several reasons - 1. it seemed to have been rushed out when the IID arrived on the scene. 2. the apparent lack of support (Not necessarily justified as they have a different support model than GAP) 3. It didn't (Still doesn't?) do as much as the IID tool.Mark.

The BT IID is fantastic. I sold my FCR for it and haven't looked back. The support that GAP provide is really impressive. Just trawl through all the posts on the forum asking the same thing. Without exception IID is the winner.

Not just me. I don't think there is a (vehicle repair/updating guru) site sponsor who doesn't use an IID My D3 Build Thread

And that put me off BBS from the off, irrespective of what the kit did.

Having wiped a BCM, BBS told me there was nothing wrong with their equipment, and left me to deal with the consequences with no technical assistance whatsoever.
GAP on the other hand, were more than happy to provide some one off additions to clear up the mess the Faultmate had made My D3 Build Thread
I agree totally Del - Why hide issues (They all have them!) behind a private forum when you can be open and then get them sorted for all!Mark.
