Anyone local to Nottinghamshire for EGR patch?

Hi. Looking for someone near Nottinghamshire who can run an EGR patch file on my disco MY07 to get rid of my intermittent engine management light, knowing my luck it will stick around for the next MOT Big Cry EGR valves are blanked and butterfly has been removed. Thanks Bec

Egr fault on a 08 Euro 4 - Blanking kit ? Software path?

Right hand EGR fault (closed I presume as no lack of power))

LR specialists say they can blank and remap my 57 plate 08 D3.

Blank off (Leaving Egrs in place) - remove buterfly - remap it all - seems too simple. Will the EGR light stay on? I'm now reading a patch ??? is needed as well.

Any advice welcome please as I would like this done within the week.

Loose exhaust return pipe on back of engine bay

Possibly relevant... I wrestled with a lean code (P0174) and vacuum leak for several months that turned out to be one of two things:
- possibly the flimsy metal "gaskets" on the EGR were leaking, so I pulled them off and added gasket maker
- most likely, when I disconnected the EGR to add gasket maker, the EGR return pipe was very loose and easy to wobble. I expect 10+ years of exhaust rattled two screws loose on the firewall side of the pipe. Took about 1/2 turn to tighten up and my error codes disappeared. It's VERY hard to reach, I had to have the wife tap on the front end of the pipe with a wrench so I could feel around between engine and firewall to find where it connected.

For those with EGR problems, the return pipe/gasket could be an easy factor to eliminate.

EGR VALVE

Hi, I have been reading your discussions on blanking kits for the EGR valves and our Disco 3 , a December 2007 model has thrown up an error code that the left hand exhaust censor EGR valve is faulty when checked by my son with his ODB(?) reader. There is an engine warning light on , on the dash. He turned it off but about 7 miles later it came back on. A slight complication maybe with our D3 is that before we bought it and @ 38,000 miles it had a new engine fitted (snapped crank) by Pentland Landrover whilst it was under an approved used warranty. It has now done 66,000 miles and had a full Landrover service history until we bought it at 58,000 miles.
So first question is:- Is the new engine compatible with a blanking kit.?
Second question :- Is there someone or Independant South Lanarkshire area that does this?
Third question:- Am I ok driving it about with the engine management light on? There doesn't appear to be any loss of performance at all but the fuel consumption on the dash is about 27 - 28 mpg but when we got it , it was about 30 - 31.5 mpg.

3rd Question

Yes you will be ok driving your vehicle.

Basically you have two options:

#1 - Replace the EGR valves
#2 - Blank the EGR valves and install a software patch to remove the EML on the dash

Either or will be required to pass the MOT as the EML will be an instant failure

Thanks for your reply, I reckon I will go with the blanking plates from Island 4x4. Will they pass the new mot test after May 20th? and does anyone in the South Lanarkshire area do the software patch?

P140D-00 (68) exhaust gas recirculating control circuit b

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE! 55 plate disco 3 sluggish, sounds off. MPG seems worse as well, and getting the P140D-00 (68 ) exhaust gas recirculating control circuit b range / performance fault code.

Wondering if I can do the 2p trick and remove the butterfly valve. Whilst I wait for BAS to come back online and order one of their kits. I need to drive about 200 miles over Christmas and wondered if the temp fix would work/help.

Have a gap IiD tool, can I use it to turn off the warning light?

Also with the gap kit is it possible to leave the pipes in place so visually it would look like they are not blanked off?

Thanks for any help in advance!

I am doing some reading research on the inevitable problems with EGR valves. Mine are original at 200,000km / 125,000mi with no problems so I'm not sure how long in theory they can go on for?

I understand the EU4 situation regarding blanking with a patch or just replacing with new EGRs.

What I don't see much discussion on is the longer term risk of the EGR coolers. I presume when blanked these still have hot exhaust gas in them and the coolant running around inside the shell and tube cooler? Any pitting or corrosion would not be a good thing for the coolant letting pressurised exhaust gas in.

If you you were deleting the EGR function would removal of these coolers not be a strong consideration at same time assuming you could blank at the point the cooler joins the exhaust manifold (that's my understanding)?

Thanks for the great information.

In fact, thinking about it further today why aren’t the coolers removed and the (still working) EGRs left in place all electrically hooked up with appropriate blanking plates?

The car is happy the EGRs are still there and the oily crud and cooler failure risk is eliminated.

EGR Valve replacement

Got a quote for £1100 today to replace both EGR valves on my D3, is this about right? Are there any cheaper alternatives?

I've also just blanked my EGR valves. Mines is a 137A*** chassis number (2007) does this require the software patch to be installed ? Thumbs Up
