FBH + remote issues..

Apologies,as it's probably been covered, but I've used the "Search" to no avail.
Yesterday I used the remote for the first time this year, went out 20 minutes later and...nothing.
So today I stood next to the car and pressed the remote button....sure enough the FBH fired up.However I went out to check 5 minutes later and it had cut out....
There is plenty of fuel, and the remote didn't warn me its battery was low....even if it was,it wouldn't have triggered the FBH surely, and certainly wouldn't be responsible for the FBH cutting out....
Once the FBH fires up,it would go through its timed cycle regardless, wouldn't it ?

You need to get some diagnostics on the case. Could be a blocked fuel pipe or some other fault with the FBH.

Mine did the same and I could not find a reason for it. I then ran it on manual heat via the touch screen and it would run for a few seconds then the manual heat indicator would go out, on re pressing manual heat it restarted and ran fine. Since then it is all working fine

My manual heat only seems to run for a couple of minutes then cuts out when the steering column lock clicks in. No idea why, but the Timed climate works fine.

I don't have the remote, so can't check with that, but no issues come up with my IID

In the case where the remote heat or timed climate only comes on for a few minutes I suspect it is the battery charge. Mine will not come on for more than 5 mins unless I have a full charge from my CTEK. If you check the fault codes mine shows a low battery error detected by the FBH after it has cut out. I think I need a new battery eventually but I only drive mine 5 mins to the station during the week so it does not get a chance to charge at all (especially as recently I have had heated seat, steering wheel and both heated screens running for that journey). I plug mine in to the CTEK overnight when I want to use the timed or remote heat and it runs for 20-30 mins and is lovely and warm.

Not sure if this is the same case for D3 but my remote will start the FBH and run for 15mins only without warming anything Big Cry

I too thought the battery could be an issue so charged up overnight but still the same issue of 15mins run and then cut out. (I think the battery has to be lower than 11.8v to prevent the FBH from activating).

The FBH will activate when required with the engine running, set to auto and with a topped up tank so everything activates as it should but no heat when running from the remote side of things.

Cheers all...in the absence of access to a diagnostic tool,I have stuck the CTEK charger on the car.
I will cancel the timed climate for the morning and have another go with the remote....my car hasn't had a decent run in a few weeks, and it may well be the car battery that is the issue....tomorrow morning will tell Thumbs Up

Damn,I thought you'd nailed it.....fully charged the battery with my CTEK,and it fired up straight away with the remote.....sadly,it died after a few minutes,so it doesn't look like its the car battery....
