Filling up problem
First post on this forum!
Recently bought a 2012 D4 HSE with 80k and FSH having had an FL2 HSE for ten years.
A few minor issues but the car is proving great except for when filling up.
Am finding it almost impossible to fill up unless you just gently squeeze the handle on the pump. Anything more than that and back pressure/flow in the tank cuts off the fuel.
Most annoying as it can take ten minutes and many many attempts to brim the tank. I suspect that this is something to do with the wrong fuel mechanism.
Anybody else had this?
Any known fix?
Thanks in advance.Current : Discovery 4 HSE (2012 spec)

As you thought, misfuelling device triggered, have a look in the manual for resetting.

Brilliant - Thanks DSL
Just had a look inside the filler and yes - you are absolutely right.
No reset tool in the tool kit though
Does this device get triggered often or only by putting a petrol nozzle in the tank.
If it has been mis-fuelled before I bought it I presume that device is effective at protecting the car, or should I be worried.Current : Discovery 4 HSE (2012 spec)

Have a good rummage, esp in the jack holder area in the boot. Never had mine trigger but I have heard of it being triggered without a petrol nozzle.
Should only be triggered by someone inserting a petrol nozzle, it’s a smaller diameter that the diesel nozzle.

Was just doing that very thing while you were posting. Found it tucked right down under the jack and tool kit.
All reset now.

Many thanks - just hoping that whoever did that didn't keep fuelling the car.
I bought it from an Indy LR specialist. Surprised they didn't spot it - they said they put some (but not much) fuel in. Suppose if they did it themselves from a can they could have triggered it themselves.
Had just watched the video having found the reset tool buried deep in the storage bin for the jack. Easy to do.
Again - Thanks!Current : Discovery 4 HSE (2012 spec)

As for worrying if a bit of petrol has got into it, my experience was that I did put some petrol in, but when it tripped, I realised. Maybe put a couple of litres in, probably less. Then I totally filled the tank (with diesel). Frankly, I didn't notice any difference at all. Although my son, who was stood behind the car a short while later when I set off was able to tell immediately because of the smell that I'd put some petrol in. But that disappeared by the next fill up and there's been no problems since (two years ago).

Thanks!
Am beginning to relax a little over it.
I managed to put 60L of petrol in to my FL2 last year but realised as I took the nozzle out. RAC drained it on the spot so no damage except to my wallet and a couple of hours delay to my journey. Must have been a senior moment.Current : Discovery 4 HSE (2012 spec)
