For those in Kent also, where do you get your V8 serviced as will be looking to find a good specialist if I can. I've had good experience of All Terrain in Hastings having bought a 3.9 V8 off them for my MG but that's quite a trek from Tonbridge.
not had a V8 but RCV near the Hop farm is spot on

Servicing : AHL in Lenham are reported as very good, 8 week waiting list is only downside
I had mine done at Dakar in Dartford, however they are about same distance for me as Terrain.
MAF, RCV and Throttle body are all easy DIY as long as you know one end of a socket from the other
Unless it's been done - you will, based on the age of your car need to do the sunroof drain tubes.

Thanks all Sounds like Terrain may be the first port of call, will be same for me as it is you CharlieCloud (am in H'boro) the sway point is that parents have a house down that way. I did think about Gigglepin in the Weald but not sure they are specialists when it comes to D3's, probably deal more with defenders etc.
The seller mentioned he had done the sunroof after the passenger footwell got a little damp although whether the drain tubes were sorted at the same time remains to be seen. Another thing to add to the list.
Pretty handy with a spanner thankfully, although have too many restoration projects on the go as it is - the idea was to get the disco so I could focus on them but see that may not be the case
Will do some reading ahead of some investigatory work this weekend.Disco 3 V8 with added LPG

Ref your question about valve lube system (sorry for the delayed reply. I have a header bottle which needs to be kept topped up and looks like this:
then the outfeed of that goes to a control module that looks like this:
and the outfeed of the control module feeds the lube in to the LPG feed pipe that goes to the injectors:
There are probably other systems on the market but this is the one I have (was already fitted to the car when I got it)
hope this helps

Thats great thanks, think that's confirmed what I already knew as can't see anything obvious, that said I'll whip all the covers off this weekend just to be doubly sure.
New rear load space cover, PCV valve and a couple of missing bits from inside the cabin have already been ordered much to the wife's bemusement. The spending has started... Disco 3 V8 with added LPG

V8 is the way forward. The club is small for us but most of the problems are still the same 😂 minus the turbo problems lol. . Car needs to be driven. Dont let it just sit. Carry a spare brake switch and bulbs.

V8 4.4 is a bullet proof proven engine. Here in the states you can see many D3's with over 200k miles still going strong as long as you don't let them over heat and change the oil. We own two. Clean the throttle body, do a BG intake cleaning once or twice in its life time. Make sure to change the coolant T plastic pipe they tend to crack as they age. The V8 can also sit for a bit if needed. We have a D3 only specialist in LA, he considers this engine the best engine Rover has used even more reliable then the 5.0 V8 on the D4.

Hey Yaxman, who'd have thought there would be two V8's on Salisbury Plain?

Finally got chance for a bit of tinkering this weekend ...only taken a month!
First job was new PCV for peace of mind - 5 mins flat. Old one was rather oily so probably a good move.
While I had tools handy I thought I'd check the state of the throttle body too

Many dirty tissues later
Much better!
Next job... it may or may not be in for tints this Thursday... It's started...

Well I have just bought a V8 HSE D3 too, well for my wife, so thats another one in the club.
I see there are some other local V8 owners to me in Wiltshire?
I also have a off road Discovery TD5, so know all about the pain of owning a LR.
Looking forward to getting to grips with a newer LR.

Hi Trollman, welcome to the club, I'm only about an hour south the other side of Salisbury plain. Do you take the TD5 up there and are you planning on taking the D3 up there?
