Fitting a cigarrette lighter |
|
I am buying a genuine Land Rover cigarette lighter to fit in one of the front 12v power points. Has anyone done this, and is it straight forward to do ? Any guidance would be appreciated.

Is it not the same as plugging in a new tv at home, standard plug into standard socket , only difference is one is 12v the other is 240V I believe that every human has a finite number of heart-beats. I don't intend to waste any of mine running around doing exercises.

Unfortunately not, it requires removing the 12v socket that is standard, and replacing with the same unit as would come in the "smokers pack". I have had a look, but not convinced how best to approach the job, without removing half of the dashboard. Nothing is ever simple ?

is it not easier to try and get an aftermarket cig lighter that will fit the standard sockets
Or use a lighter

A lighter is OK, but I wanted to fit the LR option.
Black Alloys ? are these available for the Discovery 3 ?

I've got the genuine LR 'smokers pack' panel that can replace the 2 x 12v sockets and the little shelf
£15 if you want it. Panel contains 12v ciggy lighter, ash tray etc.

Black alloys are not really available as stanbard, a lot of poeopl get hold of the 19" spare off a RRS which is the same wheel as a D3 HSE but painted black. If you can find any make sure the tyres are the correct load rating 111 or higher!
My black alloys were genuine style2 off an 06 SE, which i got off ebay and had professionally powdercoated I believe that every human has a finite number of heart-beats. I don't intend to waste any of mine running around doing exercises.

You will need to remove the centre console first, pull up on the gear lever, remove the torque screw under the EPB lever and pull up the cover. Remove the radio surround and undo the A/C controls and the srews holding the ash tray section. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€
