Yes it seems bad, but the dog is alive and unharmed, theres plenty of other scenarios where it woudltn have ended so well for the dog.
Try and imagine the position the guy was in where he had to dump the dog, no matter who he was Im sure it was heart wrenching for him.

Plus the cynic in me says the dog killing rspca would just love to find the guy in the car as it would make a great xmas story for them.

If that was the case why did he not just drive the dog to a rehoming or a rescue centre?
No i’m afraid it’s just another case of some little @rsehole who thought he looked cool having a big dog!

Personally i’m really pleased for the dog.., he’ll now have a better life! Very Happy

I have no love for the RSPCA, but I fail to see why with the number of rehoming centres from so many different organisations, why you need to dump a dog on the street. The poor thing had apparently had several previous owners and seems to have been let down by humans multiple times yet it still was faithful to the Censored of a human. Let’s hope it gets lucky this time Thumbs Up

Why the dislike for the RSPCA?

Being devil’s advocate for a minute (and I don’t condone what he did), very sadly you might easily find every local rescue centre full and unable to take another dog in Sad

Presonally, beacause they have a policy ( or did, that may have changed) in that they destroy unclaimed/unhomed dogs no matter...

Dogs trust however get my 100% support - they provide a home for life at their centres for dogs they cannot rehome.

The RSPCA have spent massive amounts on issues such as hunting, politics, new premises, payouts to staff whilst reducing rehoming support hence the challenges to their charitable status. IMHO if you want to support rehoming then donate to Dogs Trust and Battersea and for treating poorly animals the PDSA.

I reckon most charities are in fact employment agencies for their own staff, and that is what the donatons are paying for, hence at chrstams the tv is full of cuddly adverts from every charity going.

When I was a kid it was the big c appeal and that was pretty much it, now its wall to wall charities.

With finite space and resources in rescue centres, it can never be an easy decision whether to destroy or retain dogs which might be near impossible to re-home. I’m saying this as someone that’s rescued several dogs over the years.

Unfortunately, I no longer support Dogs Trust, after how difficult and unbelievably bureaucratic their Barnstaple branch made it (compared to other rescue organisations) for some near relatives to home a dog from them about a year ago. Very plush premises though.

PS: Does anyone who thinks that the RSPCA is a politically motivated organisation, potentially unworthy of charitable status, also support leisure activities singled out for attention by them?
