Flat roofrack, which, where & how much?

Following much deliberation over the Christmas break - and after a few beers Whistle - I'm considering changing my LR expo roof rack and the 3 pairs of LR OEM spotlights.

I'm thinking of a flat roof rack like the frontrunner, no spot lights on the rack, but LED lights for illumination around the vehicle when parked/camping and changing the A-bar spots to LightForce 240's (Will LF240s fit in the A-bar?).

Any comments on roof rack make/model, whether the LF240s will fit and how much I can expect to pay for a frontrunner/another rack would be appreciated; as would some indication of what I can ask for the LR Expo rack Thumbs Up
LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

Why not take the sides and fairing off the Expo? I think that this looks pretty neat

Yep. They're best mounted not on the a bar direct, but on a diy bracket going into the same fixings that attach to the grille. Mine bounce around a little bit on uneven roads, so Im thinking about fabricating something simple to hold on to the bottom of the lights too. Haven't worked out what/how yet.

Very happy with my FR rack, although it's a bit weird at first climbing on to it without the safety railings like what you have on the expedition rack Wink

No...'cos then there won't be an expo rack for sale... Whistle

But the FR rack will be flat. And I believe the Outback racks are also flat. (look here http://www.tbruk.com/ )

And PM sent... Whistle

Rolling with laughter Didn't take long. You'll have first refusal JFL if I go that route Wink

Another reason to go for a flat rack is they seem to be stronger with more cross bars and so no need for an aluminium sheet as a floor, like I currently have.

Are there any other budget racks avail for the D3? Or does anyone want to lend/hire me a rack for a short trip to Morocco Whistle Whistle
