Air bag removal tool (to borrow) - resolved

Does any kind soul on the forum have a decent airbag removal tool I could borrow? I have the cheap one from PWUK but it's just not releasing the spring (think it's too short), they do a much better one but £20 for one use just seems a bit steep...

Will make it worth beer tokens Thumbs Up

If no response I'll have to ask my local indie as I don't want to damage anything on the new motor in the process Crying or Very sad

Cheers

Hi Nige,

When I did this on the D3 i made one from a wire coat hanger. I think i found the idea on here somewhere.

It was a pain but it worked eventually

Thanks, I'd thought about that (and seen the post) but mine doesn't seem to want to release... I don't want to damage the trim on the new car so thought I'd ask first... and then I'll have warm hands Laughing

I don’t think you are using it correctly, I used an home made one with a bit of wire and they just fall off Thumbs Up

or got the wrong one ?

tbh haven't used mine yet but the details are "Airbag Removal Tool fits Land Rover | 7345 Laser"

I guess other versions aren't "7345" so you may have a shorter one ?

Well managed to solve it by removing the screws from the flappy paddles and leaving the paddles dangling loose, this allowed me to shine a torch in and see what I was hooking on to, still pretty stiff but released and now the new heated wheel is fitted... Very Happy

The best sight in the world Laughing

I just use a piece of wire but it's thicker than a coat hanger. Some pictures attached. The Allen key shows the position of the airbag wire that needs to be pulled over the cast hook.
