A frame bike carrier

Was looking at using a maxxraxx but need to get the tailgate open without too much grief

Has anyone put two bikes on an A frame carrier or used a maxxraxx and how difficult is it to get the tailgate (top and lower) open when hitched ?

Thanks

I have one of these, it has a tilting system which works with the bikes attached.

Very easy to fit and it very stable.

Countrywide,
How do you find the build quality and weight of the Buzzrack. I'm looking to get one soon and would appreciate a real world honest eval from someone who has used it.

Cheers

I have had it two or three years and we take three bikes on it. We've used it to take bikes to Europe and to be honest it seems rock solid, particulary where it sits on the tow ball. It also has key locks for the tow ball and each bike, so pretty secure too. In addition to the bike frame clamp, there are straps for the wheels and adjustable wheel supports.

It is light enough to put on yourself and has a good tilting mechanism when loaded with bikes.

I can't fault it at all.

I have a colleague who has a Maxxrack - he swears by it (not at it Rolling with laughter ) - access to the top tailgate is facilitated by the tilting mechanism. It works well

Steve

Thanks - I need to get both open to let our German Shepherd out.

I will try the Maxxraxx when we pick up our caravan in September

Have found one made by Fiamma for £93 which seems to fit the solution

Crying or Very sad Don't think the Maxxrack will have enough movement to allow access to the bottom half.

My issue with A frame carriers is the effect on nose weight. Was with a guy in France this year and he had a A frame carrier on his Hymer.

Once loaded with 2 bikes it took two of us the lift it Shocked

Used to have an A frame bike rack on our old Knaus ( 2 bikes) which was balanced by a bike rack on the rear (for 2 bikes), brilliant system and the rear one doubled for a sledge carrier for winter trips to The Alps.
