Front diff recall/service advice
Been hearing some rumours about front diffs needing attention of late. Admittedly seems to have been the FFRR but some RRS have also had some issues I believe.
Anyone know of anything relating to the D3? -can't find anything on 'search'Richard

The 2006 cars where known for housing paint to mix with oil and turn into grinding paist, and that kills oil seals oil leak out diff runs empty ... So we tried to be proactive and change oil, not sure what affect would be @ your odometer reading? The oil was dirty and lots of metal on the drain plug to worth the hassles of fulling the diffs again
Does this answer the question fakesnake ???

African section on here mentioned some time back allot of problems with Diffs because of the housing "paint" mixing with the very special and expensive oil that LR recommend you change every 5/10 years(please correct and only a specific VIN range). So in my search for the very expensive oil at LR dealership in South Africa the very helpful technician said they did not have many failed Diffs and changing the oil is all they did. This is the same guy that said when asked how much oil does it take(after I checked on GTR before),"you fill it until oil runs out" So how much oil, well what he said wasn't much more that the GTR value.
It would appear in my limited search that Diff problems is like the Turbo a parts lotto, obviously the higher the car's milage the smaller the odds, so I thing changing the oil and inspecting the diff for signs of oil leaking is time well spend. A few mods... and keeping it all running...Faultmate MSV2

So who knows this VIN-range... my car is a 2006.. with no leaks on the diffs as far as I can see..and surely no-one changed the oil in the diffs sofar... miracles still happen I guess ''
DSL : search for +whine '' +diff .... kind of subtitles for what your car is telling you

I could only find(new search required on GTR) Service action number:A051 rear Diff oil contamination vin range LA6A412249 to La 7a416767 and Service notice Front & Rear Differential Noise, Minor Oil Seal Leak & Debris in Oil.
see my Gallery for document: A few mods... and keeping it all running...Faultmate MSV2

In fact there is no particular recall /service action
There is a special Service SSM number 34304 in which dealers are adviced to check the oil state in diffs post 8A459201 in which the paint composition was uprated.
But does not say anything as to service action campaign, so if our D3 is out of warranty (most will=) we are on our own.
Best regards
