Front discs, Pads and Sensors

Hi,

Just completed a Euro tour in the D3 , 3000 miles from newcastle to Lake Garda and back and disco was great. Only problem was the check pads warning light came on 100 miles from home.

I am going to get LR parts and replace the discs, pads and sensors myself but there seems some confusion in past posts as to whether you need to get the system reset at the dealer to clear the "check pads" message once the sensor has been activated. Can someone confirm one way or another?

Also front discs at 45K miles is that about right! Rears fine.

Cheers

JonnyL

Don't think a reset is needed

Check Bodsys Brake Bible in the link below. Thumbs Up

The sensors re-set (when you replace the sensor) but you wont know if it's the front sensor or the back sensor that has failed until you have a look at it.

The bible doesn't currently have the pics for replacing the sensors, but basically you trace them all the way back to a connector. The rear one is pretty easy, the front one you have to be a bit of a contortionist and you need to pull the inner plastic liner about a bit (but it all pops in place)

V1.3 will be available shortly with the above in Thumbs Up

There is nothing to re set. The light comes on when the tip of the sensor wears as it comes into contact with the disc, ie the circuit is broken. Plug a new sensor in and the circuit is now un broken = no warning light. Best thing to do is get a front and rear sensor on sale or return, simply replace the damaged one and return the one not needed Thumbs Up
In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.
