| Front parking sensors again......IID gap tool ? |

So, now have new parking sensors front and rear and all was working well until a couple of weeks ago.
Seems that the front ones are playing up again.
The local garage diagnosed nearside inner/outer sensors not working correctly.
I removed the wiring loom and sensors, gave them a general clean up and still getting the same long beep when coming to a stop/slowing down (I think this is normal for a 2005 disco). NOTE: I bought Valeo 'decent' parking sensors, so assume these are not the actual problem.
So assuming that the sensors are actually ok, what could be the problem ? I've checked the wiring loom for splits etc, but all looks in good order.
Don't suppose anyone local with an IID gap tool for diagnosis ? Based just outside of Coventry if that helps.
My next thought was to buy a new wiring loom, but at about £70, reluctant unless I know it will resolve the problem.

One front sensor at fault.
Or two as the garage said.
Need to read the live values.

I'll try swapping the 2 faulty sensors later, but if it is the sensors, will send them back if faulty.
There was me thinking I'll get a set of decent sensors, rather than the chinese knock offs...
Appreciate the help.

Well, swapped over the two sensors and thought it had fixed it. Bit of driving and the continuous beep is back when coming to a stop......
Any ideas for next step ? Do wiring looms usually fail ? Is there anything else that could be causing the issue ?
Just thinking is it worth getting a new wiring loom or just paying for proper diagnostics ?

Wiring loom can rub on the
Metal, but don’t usually cause that fault.
I guess you need to try swapping out the other two sensors.
Or one if you can reach it thru the fog light hole

I'll take off the front bumper and double check the wiring loom. I've done it so many times now, probably quicker than getting my hand through the fog light hole.....
I did notice that the bracket that secures the loom to the car is broken/missing. Think it must attach behind the drivers headlight somewhere. I didnt see any chaffing, but will take a closer look later.

Connector behind the front o/s headlight - a couple of the wires (at the actual connector) had snapped/worn/corroded here which gave me similar symptoms. Worth a look first as it saves bumper removal.

Thanks, will check that first then.
Its just so annoying as I have managed to sort the all other problems recently and only this left.
The usual EGR valve problem, fixed by blanking them and then no fans, but was a blown relay.
Great forum for advice !!

So i took the grill and headlight out and had a look at the connection between the engine/bumper wiring looms.
Everything looked as expected, no splits in any of the wiring, all the pins were nice and tight in the connector, gave it a clean and reconnected. Same for when I checked the bumper wiring loom before.
All seems to work ok for a short while, i.e. it does not start beeping whenever I come to a stop, but over a bit more time, the initial beep and then long beep comes back.
On the basis it seems to work ok for a short while, suggests the sensors themselves are ok and possibly the loom, but maybe the signal/processing is getting mixed up.
Will have a look at the PDC module later and see if there is anything that doesnt look right.
Other than that, will have to take to be diagnosed.

There was a case where the alternator and sensor weren’t happy together.
But cheaper to change sensors first

That's really weird as we had a new alternator fitted recently.........
Not sure if the parking sensors started playing up straight afterwards.
I know I had to run the sunroof calibration procedure to get that working.
