Front Passenger door won't unlock! Suggestions???

5 minutes of kids fiddling with the key fob has resulted in this: the passenger door simply won't open, either via the dash lock/unlock buttons or the key fob. Yes, yes I know, I've only myself to blame etc. I have tried everything I can think of:
1. umpteen different combinations of button pressing
2. removing the plastic cover & trying to manually open with the key in the door lock (key won't turn either way)
3. pulling the interior door handle lock open (springs back to the "locked" position once you let go).

Anyone had this happen to them? Any suggestions???
I really don't fancy wasting most of tomorrow morning (if I'm lucky!) at the dealers...

Yep, I agree if its Armsrtong Massey you will be wasting your time. If I were you, I'd get straight to Ripon Landrover, they'll sort you out no problem!!

ronp, you're quite right - unfortunately, Ripon LR is in the opposite direction of where I was planning on heading tomorrow. That's why I was hoping for an instant fix suggestion in the freezing-cold driveway tonight.

Sittng in the driver's seat & repeatedly pressing the unlock key fob button worked... BUT back to square 1 as soon as you lock the car up again. Also, there's a sound like a demented clock ticking coming from inside the door panel as soon as I stop pressing the fob. My guess is a knackered door-lock module - anyone agree?
It's looking more & more like Armstrong Massey in the morning - arrrrrgh!

Sounds exactly like mine - which required a new latch.

dgrr you have my sympathies. When you go to Armstrong Massey DO NOT deal with the woman at service - ask for Colin [as previously posted] he's the only decent bloke in the building and may make it happen 'there and then'. good luck

Thanks ronp - really appreciate it. Colin it is, then. But knowing my luck, he'll be off until the New Yr!
Is he on their parts/service team?

He's on service reception desk. Colin Blenkinsop, wears glasses, combed back hair.

Thanks for the tip, ronp - Colin at Armstrong Massey was THE example of how best to treat a customer - his attitude being "nothing is too much trouble". A call at 8.30am to see if he could fix the door lock, & while he was at it, stop the wiper judder & upload the "sat nav on the move" patch, if available (see the "Sat Nav on the Move" thread I started a while back). He told me to bring the D3 straight round, take a fuelled-up courtesy Freelander (sadly not a FL2), & come back any time this afternoon & all will be done. And it was! (with the exception of the sat nav patch - won't be available until early Jan, apparently, but he's going to call to advise when).

Overall... an excellent warranty-work experience. But... how do they get away with charging £360 for a D3 1st service? At £200 for the same, I'd be daft not to go to Ripon, me thinks.

On another matter, & somewhat off-topic, LR must be delighted that the FL1 is now history - I had never driven one before - Christ, what a dog! Changing gear was like stirring a blancmange! They had 3 FL2s in the showroom, each at £32grand, for God's sake?!? You'd think LR would have learnt from BMW's mistake over pricing the X3 too close to the X5. Oh well.

Glad Colin was of help..told you so. Re FL1, RLR left one when they collected my D3, I was working from home so had no use to drive it. Asked my wife if she wanted to use it to pop to the local PO. Went out, 30 seconds later came back and said didn't want to drive it , it was crap [my words].
Hopefully the LR2 is a great improvement by any standards...but nuthin will move me from my D3, except a 90 county hardtop [for when my luck runs out].
