Front and rear screen heaters turn on automatically

As per the title, my front and rear screen heaters turn on automatically when the temperature is low. Is there a way to turn this feature off?

I had hoped that the IID tool would have been able to change it but there is no setting available.

Curious honest question. Why would you not want them to switch on automatically?

Because 92% of the time they don't need to be on just based purely on the air temperature and the front screen particularly hammers the battery if you're doing a shortish run.

I think it was Robbie on here who once pointed out that the startup process in the winter is

rear screen off
front screen off
heated seat on
sat nav on

...which is completely the opposite to default Laughing

...I always think of that when starting up in winter

As James said, because for the vast majority of the time it's not necessary and hammers the battery when doing a lot of short runs. I have timed climate set for the mornings when I'm at work and that pretty much clears the front anyway.

Can't you manually turn yours off - as I do every morning when it's chilly but screens are clear Question

The daft thing is the FFRR which is running very similar software to the D4 has the ability in the settings to stop them switching on automatically Confused
