Front sunroof glass - bust

Big Cry Big Cry Went to get in car this am and the front sunroof was totally crazed. It has been sitting in sun all week on the drive and we are in the middle of countryside. Can only be the sun I guess ?

Going to remove all the bits and bag them.

Is fitting a new sunroof glass a DIY job?

The sun might have triggered the failure, but I imagine there must have been a chip or a flaw in the glass already. To make toughened glass it's heated to over 600°C, and it wouldn't have got that hot in the sun!

Yours is not the first sunroof failure post I've read. Makes me glad I haven't got a sunroof Shocked

Mine shattered 2 years ago without any obvious cause. Easier to replace the whole unit.

If it’s still in one piece stick contact to it. Saved a lot of mess as opposed to it shattering all over the place

I replaced just the glass and left the cassette in, wasn't hard at all, just need torx screwdriver

Won't it be covered by insurance?
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Sounds good, are all the torx screws easy to get to ? Any tricks to make it a simple job.
