Front Wipers
Hi guys
Has anyone had any problems with noisy front wipers? I got 2 Disco 3's and both suffer from the same problem. Doesnt seem to matter how wet or dry the screen is the front wipers just bounce and scrpae their way across the screen with an annoying squeek. Anyone know why or a fix?

couldnt find much about it when i searched, if anyone has any links to previous threads on this id appreciate it
1. Get your dealer to swap the wiper blades under warranty.
2. Bend the wiper arms slightly (see thread on this).
The dealer recently replaced my wiper blades. It made a vast improvement. They were absolutely silent for the first time, even if the screen was dry or wet. Then after a few weeks, the juddering has started again.
I've previously tried RainX on the screen. This doesn't stop the juddering or make the wipers quieter, but it does mean you don't need to switch them on so much!
It does help if you keep your windscreen clean though. The LR wipers start to judder as soon as any dirt gets on the screen. I've tried various glass cleaners/sprays and they didn't get the screen clean enough. The only thing I've tried that did work (and make the wipers silent for a few weeks) was "Flash Multi-surface & Glass" spray.Matt

Mine too, and my D3 was new in May 06 - just short of 4K miles right now. The wipers are OK if the screen is very wet - but by that time you can't see a whole lot!! In all other circumstances they judder like mad. I'll have to have a word with my dealer!!Arctic Frost TDV6 5-seat

You need to twist the drivers side (rh drive) wiper arm clockwise when viewed from the tip of the wiper. A couple of degrees should do it. Use a couple of pairs of mole grips with a bit of cloth to protect the wiper arm.
Mine is good, and the blades are 12 months old now.

Hi MalBow, do you by any chance clean your D3s with wash and wax detergent.
If so then there is a good chance that the wax is building up on your windscreen and this is what is can cause the squeaking noise.
The wax is an absolute pain in the haemorrhoids to get off.
One of the best ways I have found for cleaning windscreens is with good old soapy steel wool pads and NO they will not scratch the glass.
Tend to get both the wax and stubborn road grime off with a little elbow grease.

My car went into Rossleigh Newcastle the other day - they said that they had fitted new blades and Hey Presto - Fixed!
Mine were replaced too, and worked ok for 6 weeks! I must have been lucky... 2006 Zermatt Silver TDV6 'SE' Auto, Mantec sump guard, Frontrunner roofrack, Lightforce 140s, split charge system and... a Jetboil.
