Fuel Burning Heater
Hi guys,
recently picked up my MY11 D4 XS and upon opening the bonnet to give it it's first big clean today, I found a Fuel Burning Heater... Not in the spec and wasn't looking for long under the bonnet when i bought it in the rain. I do not have a remote for it, guess I can pick one up on ebay, what do I have to do to get it to work and apart from if it was broken, is there any reason why it wouldn't work?
Thanks in advance all.

OK, just realised I may be being thick... do all D4's have FBH but only some have remote function? I had a MY17 RRS Autobiog and it had the heater and remote, just realised it may be my poverty spec Disco.
All have them but most are not enabled. And you do not need a remote kit to operate, but they must first be enabled. Do a search for Bodsy on the forum, he sells the remote kits and can enable timed climate using the IID.
And have a good search of the forum too...plenty of talk about FBH, timed climate and enabling via the search function.

I did the same to my 2014 XS - which I'm now selling therefore have the remote kit for sale if you're interested? (Haven't posted it yet)
Whatever happens if you buy a remote kit or just want to enable the timed function you will need to do this with an IID tool.

The wiring should already be in place, its behind the right hand removable panel in the boot. The kit is a wireless receiver & aerial which plugs into the wiring already there and a wireless key-fob which you can then use from say inside the house to turn the FBH on.
As far as I'm aware this all came standard on some models, or was an option, so the wiring is already in the car from factory.
As mentioned I'm selling all this kit if you're interested?

Miles,
An XS would have to have been specifically specified with remote park heating. It’s very very unlikely that you would have had this as standard.
I can enable/supply/fit this for you if it’s of interest. Bodsys Brake Bible

Hi,
As far as I am aware all D4's in the UK have the FBH. Without the extra bits, its just an automatic thing to help warm the engine when the weather is below 10deg.
Without any extra bits of kit you can enable the timed climate which allows you to set times when it comes on automatically (again it only starts at below 10 deg, otherwise just the fans come on). To do this you need something like an IID tool to program your Disco's CCF (Custom Config File)
For manual remote operation you can either go down the official route of getting hold of the box and antenna that connects in the boot and the keyring remote (Again needs CCF changing to enable once connected) or you can go down the 3rd party route and have an app on your phone to control it. (Search the forum for Altox, sorry can't remember who was selling them)
Hope that helps.Dorian Woolger

Thank you @Space Cadet for the offer. I am going to sort the suspension first and if that does not require me selling a kidney I will know what I am playing with. Looks like others will take it from you, but I do appreciate the kind offer.
