Fuel Economy drop after warranty work
Model: TDV6 SE Auto June '06, 9500 miles. Regular (weekly) average consumption of 26 - 28 mpg for past ten months.
Went in to Ripon Land Rover for alignment / tracking checks as tyres were wearing unevenly. Also commented to them when taking car in that air-con would only blow cold air if you turned the dials all the way down to 16 degrees.
They say the alignment / tracking was only a little bit out but adjusted it a shade. They also said that they uploaded the latest software version for the air-con and ventilation system control module.
Since picking the car up with zeroed computer readings can only see 22-23 mpg. Has anyone heard of this before or can they offer any suggestions for why it may have happened and what course of technical action should be applied to return my car to the 'usual' mpg of the last 10 months.

You know, I'd attributed the drop in my fuel economy to the fitment of AT2 tyres, but thinking about it the first couple of tanks post fitment were around 27-28mpg but it's now showing worse consumption since mine went in for the suspension warranty work a couple of weeks back too.
It has improved marginally to 25.5 from 24 on the first one (this is the 3rd tank since the warranty work). Would they have reset the ecu/autobox? If so it would explain some difference in economy as the box relearns your driving style.I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Are these actual fuel used vs distance or the trip computer??? I find accuracy of the latter can vary quite a bit from tank to tank, though I'm assuming the fuel pump read out is spot on.
well, just to confuse things, After I had my expo rack fitted by my dealer, my fuel consumption has improved! by about 3mpg......I reckon its just that I am getting used to the car and not driving as aggressively

From the trip computer, which on occasions of checking fuel bought against mileage has always been pretty good, within 0.5 mpg of each other.

Same as SimonH, mine is from the trip computer and has up to now been within the same tolerance. Perhaps time I did another manual check calculation on the next tank as haven't done one for 3 or 4 weeks.I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? ND, I wouldn't have thought the gearbox would take that long to relearn your driving style. Mine doesn't seem to anyway, and usually sorts itself out within 100 miles.
When I had the tracking fixed on mine, I also thought that the MPG suffered for a few hundred miles, but didn't think much of it, though it could perhaps be related to the tracking, as the tyres had bedded/settled in to the previous settings and were worn that way. I've put my MPG drop since first service down to my change in driving style. Gone from about 28-30mpg average to about 23-25mpg However, Ive gone from grandad to teenager in terms of driving style The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom
