Fuel Gauge Problems
Had the Disco for a week now, going into stealers tomorrow morning, go a good list to keep them busy.
The car was full of fuel last week, gauge dropped to just below half, drove to leicester today, in doing 45 mile, expected gauge to be below the quarter mark, much to my suprise the gauge went up to the 3 quater mark !
Filled car up, it ate 71 ltrs...... I smell a rat said the blind man !
Any tips ?Got our Disco... Love it.....

Certainly follow TazDaz's thread but, considering your symptoms, I suspect a fuel sender has been dislodged. The Bearded Dragon

The fuel gauge quiz continues..... When the gauge shows just below 1/2, and I mean just below half, the top of the needle was touchingthe half mark, filled the tank took 68 litres.
What does your tank take when it shows half ?
Looks like that the tank is going to have to come out !!!! Joy !Got our Disco... Love it.....

HELP..... NEED TO KNOW IF I'M GOING MAD !!!Got our Disco... Love it.....
Sounds like what's happened to me. The front sender unit has fallen off.
Don't bother removing the tank. I did and the front sender is not reachable from the access hole.
If you're under warranty still, go to the dealer and get a new tank.Have a nice day!

You WILL go mad if you don't do something about it.

Just on top side of half, took 69ltrs, can anyone remind me the tank capacity ????
When it goes in for its 72k service at Yeovil i'll get them to look at it, even the LR Select Warranty covers the senders in the tank, so might get it covered !!!!Got our Disco... Love it.....
That;s what mine does now that the front sender has fallen off. The gauge operates in the top half. i.e Full on the gauge is full, 3/4 on the gauge is half full, and 1/2 full on the gauge is almost empty.Have a nice day!

I have different problem. My gauge only shows half full when tank is full and needle will stay at half full untill I have consumed half a tank and then it will start to drop. Is this likely to be a sender unit?
How does one get access to the sender units?

Hi Hugh,
I suspect so. It seems like one sender unit isn't working.
Check the wiring from the senders.
Best Wishes,

Hi Hugh,
seems like a sensor, mine did the same although it would show a max of 3/4.
Dealer replaced the whole tank as the front (?) sensor is part of the fuel tank assembly and cannot be replaced on its own.
