Fuel Light Warning

Not sure where this fits category wise, so apologies if in wrong place.

This morning, I set off and 2 miles down the road I noted that the Fuel Light warning came on the dash, and on the Sat Nav screen - The fuel indicator was showing a big fat zero, and also zero miles to empty.

I pulled over just to ensure I was not having fuel leaking all over the place, and there was certainly nothing obvious. I will also fully aware that I had only done 60 miles since filling the tank to full. So either the fuel economy really does suck or there was some other problem!

Assuming the latter, I decided to proceed......5 mins late normal service was resumed, fuel warnings gone, and gauge now showing full again.

Just wondered on any thoughts, or whether it was just an 'unnerving' blip? Should I pop it back to the stealer? Or am I looking at a common fault here?

Thanks -

Rich

I know there is a massive difference between the D2 and the D4, however on filling up the D2 if brimmed the fuel gauge would read empty until it could recognize what it knew as a full tank.

The magnetic/resistive sensor should work perfectly so I would get it fixed under warranty. Random low fuel messages can play havoc with the fuel burning heater on the D3, not sure what happens on a D4.

There have been issues with mice eating parts on top of the tank, could be an issue if they have been munching and damaged soemthing.
