Fuel type

As a matter of interest what fuel does everyone use (diesel)and what fuel economy are you getting on a city cycle.
I am using Sasol and getting a 10.5 average.

Used to use Sasol, Now use BP ultimate (Diesel). Consumption varies according to driving pattern, best I can do in the city/freeway cycle is about 10.5 l/100km, typically 11.7L/100km.

Values are calculated, OBC is about 2% optimistic Whistle

TDV6SE 2006 - Standard tune (mouse over D3-ICON)
30K
Wronglers about 40% worn - noisy as hell

No specific fuel preference (as long as it's diesel Very Happy ) , avg 13.5 l/100 . But that is mostly town driving so far with roof rack and spare on roof .

We use just about anything we can get. Normally economy is between 12.5 and 13.7 depending on who is driving (Mrs. B has really heavy right foot Smile)

Hoping it will improve once I get the TorqTune in, once the vehicle comes back from the bodyshop...sometime this month....

Model 2006

Mods: special LandRover Midrand conversion with Subaru badge

Snorkel only (most of the time)

Tyres: Pirelli 255

Use Caltex, Consumption varies according to driving style, the city/freeway cycle is about 11.5 l/100km, typically freeway is about 9.5. l/100km,

Please all add Bow down

Model 2007
Engine mod: Turbo Chip
Tyre 18" Std Goodyear 255 60
Roof rack no

Is this based on your computer or calculated on distance traveled and fuel used to refill?
Thumbs Up

Mine is based on actual consumption , the on board consumption is VERY optimistic on mine and is out by about 10 % on actual . But that is not necessarily a LR thing , had the same on all my beemers

Unfortunately I am a diesel prostitute Embarassed and stop where I can. Average around 12.5 to 13 but have a heavy right foot and city traffic. Missus drives a sports car so hard to keep up. I have noticed a slight improvement if I use Sasol, but could be my imagination. TDV6 S - only roof rails extra when in city. Open road, less than 10 and fully kitted out 11-12 - if careful - and 13 if myself.

Notice how it is only diesel okes that are interested in the consumption ??
V8 drivers just dont even calculate the formula, as the answer is always THIRSTY.

Sniffy; ja us V8 ouens tend to try to ignore the consumption figures for fear of the Prozac side effects. I must say though that I have been impressed with my 14,5 combined cycle and 13 on the open road (very similar to a 4,0l V6 Prado I owned). Aaaah,.... but the sound of that V8 makes it all worth it.

Sadly I dont get the open road wind in my hair feeling too much of late.
I have been relocated to the Censored end of the industrial area, and I sit in traffic
for far too long each day. I get around 16 or 17 l/100 in the stop start /slow moving,
but on open roads, easily get 13.

BTW, there is a hill on my way home, that is the benchmark of all cars (according to me)
to see what top speed you can get to by the time you reach the top. It is only about 2 or 300 meters
long. It is a "standing start run" from the bottom traffic light there. One day, pretty soon after perma-grin
was installed, I zeroed the AVG Fuel consumption while waiting for the green. I floored it to the top of
the hill. The dear old computer had some big numbers to calculate...... it read 121 l/100 !! Shocked
I know it is pretty inaccurate since only covering 300 meters max, but still. I didnt reckon it could get that high.
On the other side of the coin, I have also seen 9l/100km, with 7 people in the car at 120km/h ....
You win some, you lose some ey ! Mr. Green
Did I mention the sound the V8 makes ???

You V8 guys needn't feel too bad . I have an old rangie with a Chevy 350 in and I smile if I get 25 l/100 . Mostly it's around 33l/100 . But did I mention the sound the V8 makes Razz

I use BP Ultimate...its got some serious technology that not only does the cleaning bit but also boosts the cetane number by as much as 5 points higher...engine runs smoother and quieter..and if you want you can tune it in to take advantage of the additional cetane points...means more power.

Hey Sniff, you didn't tell us what your top speed was at the top of the hill. On a similar note, it is always a laugh to see the look on the face of the beemer driver as he pulls up (briefly) next to you in the right lane on a steep hill, only to be dropped rather rapidly as the "truck" pulls away!
