Full house of error codes and lights |
|
Just got home, reversed onto the drive to unload the boot, and as I touched the brake pedal all hell let loose - everything started bonging, the dash lit up like the preverbial Christmas tree, gear display showed 'E', info display showed HDC fault, EPB fault, suspension fault, something else fault, and the car sunk to its bump stops.
I turned off the ignition, and restarted it - still the same. So I locked up and went indoors to drink tea. 20 mins later, and I plugged in the BAS box - got the following:
P0578, P140D, another P140D and P140B - all EGR(ish) related, and were present the other day before I blanked the EGR's (forgot to clear the codes then )
Also present were:
P1621 - immobiliser codes not matched - WTF ??
U0155 - lost comms with instrument panel
P1934 - vehicle speed signal
P1935 - brake switch sensor/signal
Who's having a tenner on a fubard brake light bulb ?...........or is something more sinister occuring ? - and any thoughts on the P1621, or is that a known side-effect of a fecked brake light bulb ?
Cleared all DTC's and all dash error messages and warnings have gone, car starts ok, suspension back to normal - haven't touched the brake pedal yet, as I had to come inside to decode the DTC's, but I'll go and check the bulbs shortly...............need to find something to wedge the brake pedal down

Both brake light bulbs work ok, as does the centre brake light - but o/s bulb filament looks a bit stretched, so that may be the culprit. I kept the brake lights on for a few mins, along with the side lights just to see if the filaments were stretching with the heat, but nothing shorted out, and no faults came up.
Think I'll replace the o/s bulb just to be on the safe side.............after reading posts on here a while back, I carry a few spare OEM bulbs just in case !! Jim

I had this on previous D3 - the switch on the brake pedal was causing it, a £6 part which literally brought the car to it's knees.
