Gear Change Problems - in Auto Box

Mon am - Got puncture Mon Morn [b*gger - sidewall = new tyre!!] F N/S.
Jacked it and changed to the spare.
Mon pm/Tue am - In 'Auto' wouldn't shift out of 4th Gear!!!
i.e. Accelarate to 55mph, revs show 3.5k, ease off, revs still run at 3.5k - select Command Shift and shift [from 4th] to 6th. Select 'Auto' and all is ok, still in 6th [running below 2k rpm], accelerate and same happens again - drops to 4th & revs at 3.5k!!!!
Tue pm- got new tyre fitted - jacked up and replaced spare with new tyre.
No gear changing problems now!!!!

Reckon it was something to do with the selectors from gear lever to box???
Probably something happened in the Jacking process????
What do you reckon ??

Was the spare the same size and profile as the other 3 on the D3?

Well, there's a thought bkehoe !!!

I run 20" stormers with 295/40/20's!
My spare is the original stle 2, 18" 255's
[not too sure of the profile - and excuse me for not going out to find out!]

What you think bkehoe????

The 18s are 255/60.

Just put the numbers into a calculator, and there's a 2.5% difference in circumference between them, so the ECUs would be receiving different speed data from the speed sensor on that wheel. Notice any unexpected traction control activation when it was like this as well?

NoDo$h had a similar problem when his tyre place accidently put on a 255/55 R18 on one corner instead of a 60.

Just did a few sizes in the calculator - no idea if all these profiles actually exist and have tyres suitable for the D3's weight

295/40 (your current size) is 2.5% smaller than standard
295/45 is 1% larger than standard

285/45 is pretty much exactly the same (0.17%)

The other option is to get a 20" spare, or else maybe a different tyre for the 18" wheel you've got, maybe 255/55 R18. It's not exactly the same, 0.85% difference, so it may or may not cause problems with the gearbox again.
