Took the car in today for the first 'glitch' since collecting it in December. It was struggling to go into reverse gear particularly when on an incline or cold and after putting up with it for a while decided to book it in to be checked. To my surprise when I rang this evening to see if it was ready they said that the gearbox was coming out and that parts had been ordered so it will be a couple of days. I am really nervous now, the car has had no problems really bar this niggle but I don't know if I like the idea of the gearbox being removed from a car that's only 3 months old.
Should I be worried or am I over reacting? 2020 BMW X1 18d XDrive X-Line Auto

It feels bad when your car has to have major surgery but i feel that mechanical problems are easier to sort out than body problems. Either way though, its in the right place and its not costing anything.
Hope you do get it back soon and its running better than ever.

Don't worry about it mate, rest assured that your car is in capable hands and will be sorted out by the people in the know, they must have had a valid reason for the major work so it's a good thing that it was spotted now rather than later.
My car had major surgery in the form of a new Turbo after just 50 miles on the clock, think how I felt!!!

Got it back today after 5 days in a Freelander They seem to have done the trick as it slips easily into reverse now. Turns out that they replaced the entire clutch assembly including cylinder as well as gearbox selector forks as per LR instructions for this complaint.
Fingers crossed it will behave now as I have had no other problems at all since collecting it in December 2020 BMW X1 18d XDrive X-Line Auto

Gears are much easier to engage now, no baulking at all. Seems as though it may be a common complaint as the service manager kept saying "in these situations LR tell us to ...........etc etc" 2020 BMW X1 18d XDrive X-Line Auto
