hi all,

help needed again,
i have spoken about a gearbox oil change to 3 garages, prices varying from £70 to £350 all in.

the cheapest reckons 6 litres of oil and 1 hours labour, the dearest reckons 20 litres of oil, for flush and fill!

who do i go with?

DSD
Darrell

ps. all independant garages not LR.

the 6 litre quote is for oil change only

for a flush you really need to clense the system with new oil which is sacraficial then refill with fresh also replacing the sump pan which has the filter built in...no use changing oil and not the filter which could be contaminated

LR007474
is the filter/sump pan
 TLO has left the building.......

Hi

yes the magaflush, certainly helped, everything feels alot smoother, the oil they pumped out was Black, so it was worth doing IMO.

Still think somthings slipping somewhere tho, so after reading another thread could be a torque convertor required too!!! Whistle

I've got my D3 booked into GRGB on Tuesday for a Megaflush, they have quoted £160+VAT and said they will be using Castrol heavy duty ATF. Does anyone know what Castrol heavy duty is and if it is within spec? I can't really find much on the web about it?

I would suggest you make sure the ATF mets ZF spec which I doubt.
There have been failures caused by the wrong ATF.

Here is the ZF doc:

Just to clarify for all concerned:
Compatible ATF is Dexron VI, we have used this many times without issues. NOT ALL OIL COMPANIES PRODUCE THIS, AFAI CASTROL DO NOT.

We have now negotiated a deal on the OEM Shell fluid and all flushes on D3/RRS will now inclde this as standard.

Hi read your post with interest, I suggest you have a look at mine ."torque convertor / gearbox problems possible rebuild advice required". I think it may help you. You may be wasting your money with double flush, as I did twice. Good luck.
