So driving along today and suddenly I get "Gearbox Fault", HDC warning and the warning light for the adaptive headlights, so I pulled over and turned the car off. I noticed the rotary gear selector didn't retract back into the dash like it normally does.
Now, if I try to start the car, the ignition turns on and then turns off again. If I turn it on without pressing the brake pedal, I get the same warnings. The gearbox selector is still raised and locked in position, doesn't light up or anything, dont know what gear it thinks it is in...
Tried power cycling the car, no change. Battery voltage is OK. Fuse for gearbox has not blown.
It's gone away on a flatbed, but anyone got any informed guesses as to the culprit here, or seen this combination of faults before?

So, for the benefit of future people, this is now fixed.
It turns out there's more than one fuse, and the fuse for the transmission ECU (fuse 30) *had* blown. They replaced it and it blew again.
Problem turned out to be what appears to be a drink poured into the rotary gear selector - I've only had the car a month so wasn't me guv! But they've replaced that and I've, finally, got the car back!
The garage who first looked at it gave up and took it to a transmission specialist. They were able to drive it there, though it was going 'bong bong bong' a lot and the transmission obviously in some sort of limp home mode. Bonus points to anyone who can suggest how they might have achieved that. For me it wouldn't even let me start the engine!

I should clarify that I don't know how they did it, but they were able to drive it in reverse and forward gears... but it was clearly very unhappy...
