Gearbox Fault - Terrain System Disabled

OK, I have just had my first off-road trip. I've had the car 6 months (secondhand 2.7 10MY) and it's done 38000km's Thumbs Up

The drive was only 25km, but did do some steep climbs and descents in 30C temps. Averaged 9km/hour.

Around 18km in we went down a very steep rocky slope, around 60m long, stoped at the bottom to take some photo's - engine left running for around 10minutes. Then headed back off. When I next change from mud to rok-climb I got a gearbox warning and terrain system disabled itself. At the next oppertunity I stopped the car and switched the enging off, restarted and no errors. Sad

It happend again about 10 minutes later. Restarted the engine and the fault cleared. No issues on the way back home (42km).

Was it just a glitch in the system, or something else need investigating Question
Thanks

Same fault happend again this weekend. This time it was a cool 21C, so will get it looked at during it's next service.

Hope it can be fixed as it would not change down from 4th. Not good when you are heading down a hill Shocked

very often, a calibration of the suspension, steering and roll-sensors can fix many problems.

Probably the brake switch - a common fault.

Has this happen too but I assumed it was because I was asking too much from the system at the time. It happened on a reasonably steep hill in low range rock crawl (with down hill descent turned off manually) when the gearbox was hunting between gears. To stop it hunting gears I put it in command shift but then found it wouldn't shift down and was 'stuck' in 4L. The revs were dropping then the car showed gear box error, turned off "special programs". I stopped, put the gearbox back in auto and kept going. Eventually turned the engine off, started again and the warning disappeared. I haven't seen it again since.

Experienced it in an RR Sport at the weekend after going through some rather deep water. Clerared it by switching everything off and then restarting. Usually happens if the systems in the vehicle have become overloaded/hot/wet for any reason and a restart usual clears the fault.
