General Grabber AT3 265/65/18 |
|
I'm about to purchase a set of the above. I've looked around and general opinion is that the 265/65/18 AT3's will fit and are a good choice for the D3.
However, it is very likely that I will be starting a daily 130 mile commute to work soon (short term until we move closer). So my question is, assuming I'll probs be doing close on 40k miles a year (and I split that 34k commuting to 6k travelling) how well do they wear for anyone else that also uses the same boots?
I'm guessing I'll probably be looking at a set a year which I think is acceptable but any less than that and I'll probably need to be looking for alternatives. Cogito ergo sum!

I can only comment on the AT's that have been on my D3 for apprx. 30,000mls now and are around 50% worn.
These are the ones with the wavy tread. So far they have been a very good road tyre, and on the odd occasion that I've gone off road on a slippery field they've performed well. (That is, I haven't got stuck and it's with pulling a 13'6" trailer).
One would imagine that a later design of tyre SHOULD be superior. 2007 Disco3 2.7 tdv6 SE

I have 255/55/19 AT3 on my RRS. They've done about 15k miles and are perhaps half worn. They definitely seem to wear slower than the previous Grabber AT and they're not noisy at this stage unlike the Grabber AT. Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

If you want a long lasting, hard wearing AT tyre in that size, also consider the BFG AT KO2. MY2022 D5 HSE D300 - with extra nice bits added
MY2019 D5 HSE 3.0 SDV6 - sold to a dealer for a crazy price! - So good I bought another!

Thanks all, I've looked at the KO2's also and I love the look of them I must say. I must admit though I'm slightly biased toward the AT3 only because some guys called Expedition Overland from the US that i follow kit out all their Tacomas with them and they cover some serious distance and swear by them.
