General Grabbers at3 advice.
Really struggling at moment trying to source a tyre I like. 20” landmark rims fitted on my D4 and very very limited to AT tyres or anything even remotely like. Been looking at getting 19 rims but again it’s getting decent ones without paying a fortune. Would really like BFG ko2 which I normally have but it means buying a set of the compomotive wheels which with BFG are nearly 2 grand and to be honest I am not even that keen on. So been looking at Goodyear DuraTrac which come in 20s but reviews say they are really noisy so now the other option is General Grabbers at3. There are lots of conflicting reviews on them particularly about wet roads so was wondering if anyone knows anything about them and also due to my ignorance would it matter that my tyres are 255/50 20 and grabbers are 255/55 20.

Duratracs all day long, like nearly every tyre going they only get noisey when down close to the legal limit.Just remember:-

Cheers for that. I must admit I prefer the look of the Duratrac.
Sorry to throw a load more questions out there but would you know if I did source some 19” rims
Would it mean I can get bigger tyres, so in turn bigger sidewalks which should hopefully allow a better ride.

If you’re not that fussed on being in absolute top condition (good rather than mint), don’t want the latest (and most expensive) and are patient you can get a set of 19” rims pretty cheaply. Ignore most of the prices you see on eBay, they’re having a laugh. I got 5 if these for total of £225, 4 on eBay for £175 plus 5th from a member here. Someone here bought 5 of these rims only from eBay for a cheeky offer of £150!!! Patience and cheekiness are the watchwords.
Just fitted Duratrac a month ago. Not noisy to me, and I don't drive with radio on, and these days I have the windows open.A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. Thanks for that. I must admit I would like to go down to 19”. If I had 19” what size tyres could I go to to fill arches to but without causing probs

I've had the 20" 255 GG AT3's on for about 5 weks now, and have had no issues in the (limited) wet use.
They're stable and quiet too.
I had GG AT's on my D2, and tho' the car is noisier than the D4, they were absolutely fine.
I didn't and don't buy my tyres for looks, but as I have used the GG range before, it was the brand of choice for me.
The UK weather really doesn't need us to have a changeover to a specific winter tyre like some European areas, and these fit the bill perfectly.
The guys at Tyres Direct in Luton are great to deal with, and can fit onsite. Prices are very good, and they will take the time to discuss what you want and not rush the sale.

I fitted AT3 tyres to my 20" wheels and they were fine, although I only managed about 1,000 miles before car was written off.
According to Andy at AJS tyres, this is exactly what the tyres were developed for (he was involved in the testing) I choose them as the best compromise for on road, off road and with the mountain and snowflake for winter use. I never got to try them in the snow, or the mud, but on the road they were fine.
I wouldn't have chosen 20" wheels, but as my car came with them, I was quite happy with the AT3s and they were a little quieter than the previous Zeons.

I've got Grabber AT3 on my RRS and have to say that they have been faultless so far. None of the wear-related noise that the Grabber AT had, they're excellent on road allowing some "spirited" driving to be done if the mood takes me. They appear to be wearing better than the AT did, too. Took them to Les Comes last year and they handled the rocky tracks well. They were very good in the snow of this last winter - usual caveats apply even when the tyres are winter rated. No problems in the wet - I'd heard people say that the Grabber AT was squirmy in the wet but I never found that either. Not had a lot of mud experience with them but what they have seen has been dealt with well.

Thanks for all the info very helpful. I am still thinking to go down the 19” route if it will improve the ride
But if it doesn’t I suppose it’s easier just to go for something me 255/55 20s.
Their prices are competitive, they are knowledgeable & very experienced with LRs, and service is 100%.

First modification to my last 3 D4’s has been to remove the standard fit 20” rims. If you want a AT tyre with the snowflake/mountain rating, then look at the new Pirelli’s AT plus. Here’s the recent thread on them:

I’ve had my AT3s for about 12
Months and never had a single slip in them on the road. Much better than the old ATs I had on my RRS. Planted in the wet and unstoppable on the snow. Perfect tyre for my 20s in 255/55 form.
