Winter Tyre Sizes
Has anybody tried 255/60 r19 tyres on a Discovery 3/4 with the slightly taller aspect ratio? (ignoring speedo lack of accuracy)
I like Cooper Weathermaster tyres and have them on the wife's D3 with 20" wheels but mine has 19" and Cooper do not make the tyre in 255/55 r19.

My opinion is that you can find similar or better cold weather tyres in the correct size. 2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

That may well be true and of course I know that but I LIKE these tyres
The question is will the slightly higher "60" instead of "55" tyre wall make much difference on the road?

I know it's an All Season tyre, but for the price I'd be tempted by these:

No idea, I've always run stock sizes, but in theory the ride should be more "comfy". 2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

Not for me I like aggressive (looking) tread if at all possible...

The GG AT3 has the mountain/snowflake symbol, IIRC. That's pretty aggressive looking.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

That dimension is the new size fitted to both D5 and RRS!
I am thinking of going down the same root with these tyres but in the 20 inch oversize of 255 55 20.
Main reason gives the same depth of tyre 5.5 inch as 19 inch tyre standard size, so reducing kerb damage to rims as standard kerb size is 5". Also think the increased tyre depth would look better as the standard size looks rather skinny, especially when off road
Pricing seems very good on these at present and seem to have good positive feedback.
The overall increase in size is 3.3percent which is within the recomended guidlines of 3.5 percent
The downsides as I see it are speedo being a bit out, but not much and having the dilemma of running the current spare standard size, which would only be a short term option or forking out for 5 new tyres.
Havent fathomed out if the more positive speedo reading would benfit or hinder mpg figuresD4 Landmark MY16 Santorini Black THE LAST

Several reports of AT3 being pretty useless on wet grass and not that great in fairly muddy conditions.
WSC seems to cope really well with wet grass, and have been led to believe cope quiet well in muddier conditions as well.D4 Landmark MY16 Santorini Black THE LAST

If I had 19 inch wheels think I would go for the Duratrac which in the 19 inch size is very reasonably priced.
This would give you right dimensions but the lower speed rating (Q 99mph)D4 Landmark MY16 Santorini Black THE LAST

I was about to say you were wrong with 5.5" for 55 and 5" for 50 tyres but I did the maths and for 255 tyres you are correct +or-

Salisbury Plain?
I wouldn't buy them, but I'm more interested in performance than looks.
Les, why don't buy a set of 19" or even 18" rims? My last 3 D4's came with 20" rims and one of the first things I did was to swap them for a smaller set. I kept the 20"s, so I can put it all back to standard spec. 2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE
