I confess to doing it in the supermarket carpark on Sunday when parking next to a Freeloader 2 just to make the point that the D3 was THE proper 4x4 to have

OK.... Maybe I also did the same thing the other weekend at the garden centre when I parked next to some tosser posing against his touareg and admiring it's curves.......he soon ed off inside to buy some geraniums

Same as you DT, SWMBO didn't like the D3, preferring an RRS even after 10 year of D1/2 ownership.
Glad to say now we have a D3 she likes it - which is a good job.
Mine was the same she had a couple of Discos before and didn't like the D3 even when I took her to the dealers she said she would rather have a s/h Disco2 than a D3, but she did love the FL2 ... so I bought her a TDV8 RRS

I test drove the D3 before I tested any other 4x4. SWMBO didn't want me to bother getting others & everytime I brought a different 4x4 home as part of the extended test drive, she'd comment in the exact following order....
It doesn't have as many cup holders as the LR
It sounds like a tractor, the other one (LR) was much quieter
Why don't the rear seats fold away like the LR
.......... I rest my case m'lud
